Heavy frame drops

#1 Post by MatzMan » 04 Apr 2021 08:07

I don't know if other players have the same Problem.........

Since 1.40 i have on many places extrem Frame drops.

Now ( i think ) i found the Problem.

on Day, if you have you drive with lights on, the Frames ( Specialy inside Wood ) going down from 60 to 30 fps.
Then i turned Lights off and its going up to 60 again.

You can test it selv: here on [04/04/2021 09:49:48] (sec-0024-0017);-95542.8;11.6599;-67793.6;0.146174;-0.0463109

ok, i got make a Test Drive over 1700 Miles.

1 Time with konstant "LIGHT ON". Sesult = drop, drop drop over many places ( Highway, inside city, on Freeway).
then loaded Save game with same Job and Tour with "LIGHT OFF" Day ( konstant 60 fps ).
then i found another Problem.
at night, coming into city, have to wait on red light on cross.
frames going down to about 40 fps.
then while standing, turning lights off ( direct 60fps ) and turn on again............after that, konstant 60fps at night and any place.
i don't understand it, but ok, i can acept that, now i turn Lights on when KI turns it on and turn it off whe KI is do it.
Now i have 60fps over complete Map on 4K, all on High - Ultra ( only Shadows on Medium) with a GTX 1060 6GB.

So I am not sure about your PC but with mine, the thing that helped was to lower the scaling. I am not sure what my PC Specs are but I can run full graphic settings as long as the scaling is at 150% or less and with the SSAO disabled. If you are running your scaling at 400% try dialing it back some until you get smooth frames. I had a similar problem after the 1.4 update although mine would snag every now again prior to update. With this setting at 150% I get smooth 60fps constant everywhere all the time under all circumstances with lights or no lights and in my opinion it still looks just as fine. I hope this helps.

Hi!

I had exactly the same problem as the one in the video where you are following the police car.
I searched the entire internet for a solution. I tried to change the settings of the graphics card (Nvidia), In the game I changed scaling settings, anti-aliasing etc. but it didn't work except one setting...
I noticed it exactly after watching your video.

Watch carefully that the game is slowing down as the police car's flashing, exactly when is flashing right light.
The game is doing the same for me.

I was playing around with the lights settings in the game and one setting solved the problem... Light visibility ranges. You have to turn it off completely. It does not work to switch to a lower effect.

When I turned this off, I don't see any difference in the graphics, but it worked for me.

I actually would have never thought of that. I've got my light ranges cranked up to full and I get full 60fps solid even in more populated areas so long as I leave the scaling dialed back some. I might try fliping those around and see what happens. Maybe I can get a sharper looking game at the sacrifice of light distance? I will post reply what happens.

here now a Feddback from me:

Test 1: 4k Screen with 3840 x 2160 all on high, Ultra = Wild Framedrops, then disable Light visibility ranges = constant 60fps over all

Take away the 4k Screen, set a HD Screen on Computer.

Test 2: 1920 x 1080 all on high, Ultra = Wild Framedrops, then disable Light visibility ranges = constant 60fps over all

Take away HD Screen, set the old Screen from my Retro Comupter on this one.

Test 3: 1280 x 1024 all on high, Ultra = Wild Framedrops, then disable Light visibility ranges = constant 60fps over all

then scaling 1280 x 1024 down to 25% with Light visibility ranges enabled, constant 60fps

btw., on all Screens i got the same drops ( fx. from 60 down to 32-40 fps ).

So i'm out with Ideas. :?

what kind of pc you got? Screens have nothing to do with PC performance. what are your pc specifications?

Oops... Yep, it's a huge fail xD I really didn't notice that, because I'm driving most in daytime. Sorry for that.

I also searched other forums related to this issue, which players describe as slowing down and accelerating the game at constant FPS and unfortunately I have not found any solution. In ATS, only turning off the light visible range helped. I haven't noticed this happening in previous versions of the game... or maybe i'm wrong. Thiss issue is really annoying.

16 GB RAM
GTX 960 4 GB
SSD Samsung 120 GB
