Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
They have made the 1.42 specifically only to test the mods in MP but nothing else, to avoid mixing bug reports about mods and about new content (as the FFB was ready and didn't interfere, the add it too). They usually discard bug reports with mods, but this time they specifically need people to do reports that include mods.
But that means that, meanwhile, game content development continues (like those roads you mention). So, it's easy to guess that we will have soon another update focused in content changes. And that update could even have no open beta at all; because if there's no big code changes the most problematic issues that cause crashing could be cleaned with internal testers. So the release cycle for 1.43 could be way faster and allow them to release some of those teased roads this year. It's perfectly possible.
A different thing would be those roads mapping suffers delays.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I honestly believe that SCS will release version 1.43 later this year, but for this to be possible it would have to be in record time. Taking into account that around December 15-20 the Christmas event start already, trying to 'create' a timeline would look something like this:
From today, 21, until the 26th or 28th: End of OB and release of the official 1.42;
First week of November(01/11-06/11): Posts about 1.43 on the blog;
Second week of November(07/11-13/11): Start of OB 1.43;
Rest of November: Still in beta;
December: between 01/12-10/12 end of beta, after that, hype of Christmas event from 11/12 until the beginning probably on 17/12...
Remembering that this is a guess and taking into consideration that there needs to have a beta... just like the friend above said that there may not need to have a beta on 1.43 (even more so when it comes to map change) and it may come out sooner than we expect.
But, we should also take into consideration that it has been a long time since a new version of the game has been released without an open beta... I can't remember which was the last one, anyone remember?

Me too, I still anticipate that 1.43 would come around the end of this year or the very start of next year. I wouldn't think that SCS would tease map updates during this year and having us to wait March/April of next year for them to actaully come out.

I believe they decided bring mod support to Convoy as an own update rather than leaving it for a major update, because it would have many more bugs to deal with. And probably 1.43 will be these map updates along with DAF XF and maybe with a big feature like Driving School.

1.43 is just a public beta build, internally they can run closed beta builds and other additions to stay head
The next build can be rekeased just a few days after 1.42 goes in produciton release

@Reis_6 as I said, you are not considering the possibility the update will be released without OB. An OB is never mandatory; lots of times is useful and even desirable, but never mandatory. The main purpose of an OB is to iron relevant bugs on a set of hardware and system configurations wider than the ones they can directly test. To avoid there could be a big bug in the code awaiting to crash potentially lots of players computers. But if the changes in code are minimal to null (because they had been done in this 1.42); then almost only aesthetic errors could happen and those could be fixed on the fly as reports will arrive, with no need for OB at all.
Of course, with no OB, who will have a problem is moders and mod users; that will have not the OB time to adapt. But from SCS that's a completely secondary thing that can't and should not dictate their release schedule.
