European trucks also have stalk for engine brake only. For exemple, a renault truck will have a 3 stages stalk for engine brake only, and a 5 stages stalk for engine brake + retarder.
Depend on the transmission, optidriver+ transmission use a 3+1-stage one since it's basically a rebranded i-shift transmission(the fourth position is just a temporary one that activate a braking program) same for the "MT" transmission which was a Volvo VT transmission

The 5-stage stalk was used on Renault trucks with ZF transmissions

European Trucks don't have engine brakes(jake brakes) they only use Exhaust brake or retarder (well technically jake brake is an exhaust brake, but it works differently, exauhst brake return the exuahst gazes to the engine to push on the piston while the jake brake interuppts the compression stroke by opening exhaust valve to brake the truck)

edit: before anyone says that they are similar in principle, the exhaust brake is a device mounted outside the engine (on the exhaust manifold) while jake brake is mounted on the cylinder head(on the camshaft to be precise).

I don't know why manufacturers think that High Tech stuff needs to have a ugly and hideous design. I truly dislike the S-Way looks but compared to that thing posted a couple pages ago, it looks beautiful.

it is aerodynamic, mos of these designs are build on it, more curves, better aerodynamic and the rest will be designed around it

it is the same with the MAN Concept S, how else do you think they could achieve aerodynamics on a truck like on a car

False

Volvo have their own variant of the Jake Brake, the VEB+

Same for DAF on their PACCAR engines

Hell, Mercedes-Benz use the Detroit Diesel variant (which make sense since the OM471 and OM473 are basically Detroit Diesel DD13 and DD16 rebadged)

In fact everyone got one, it strictly depend on the option package you take (exhaust brake is single stage, engine brake is multi-stage usually)

Thanks @plykkegaard

And I have to mention that for the OM471 and 473, it's mostly because these are rebadged Detroit Diesel engines(that we got early in north america when they passed to SCR, DD preferred to conceived new engines instead of modernizing the Series 60)

The old OM501 and OM502 still used an actual engine brake conceived in-house by Mercedes-Benz, but with only two stages instead of the classic 3 (which is probably because of the fact that these are V6 and V8 engines instead of inline 6)

There only 2 manufacturers in europe that i'm sure that still don't have an actual engine brake as an option, don't know if it's for cheapness reason (scania and Iveco/FPT not willing to pay Jacob royalties for it's patents) or just preference.

Everyone else have it as an option at the very least

Mercedes using the Jacob one right now
Volvo VEB/Renault Optibrake
DAF PACCAR MEB
MAN EVB

Sooooo sounds like ETS2 will eventually get this new Actros. Like it or ETS2 fans, as new truck is a new truck. There always the bickering between both games on who is getting new stuff (myself included). There has been dislike from some for the Lonestar and the Anthem but hey......its new and free content.
