I've ended up making my own economy mod using workshop mods as a guide, basics:

set g_income_factor to something like 0.1 or 0.2 (fine tune as needed)
reduce pay per mile for yourself and AI drivers, various other factors in the economy files
increase the time for loans, reduces the daily repayment to something manageable (I have something like 2 years for 500k loan, not 3 months)

Some people prefer a quicker game. If the incomes were realistic then you should drive for years in order to be able to buy a truck. Not all people want that. A selection like "easy, medium, hard economy" would be nice though..
Honestly this is what I'd like most: an in-game setting that lets you choose between the current setting, a further accelerated one, a reduced one, or a "realistic" one. I'm pretty sure most people can understand the concept of difficulty levels, so just brand it as that: "Easy", "Normal", "Hard", and "True Trucker" (or something like that; maybe a fifth "Custom" setting as well). This might interfere with future WoT plans, I guess, but considering that those plans have been future plans for several years at this point it'd probably be better to just work around it later.

I know you can change it in the more intricate settings, but this feels like one of those things you shouldn't need to go out of your way for. Even a hamfisted implementation of this would probably cut out the need for a mod for a lot of people on both ends of the spectrum (the people who want it to be more realistic, and the people who just want everything immediately.)

Hey, I just noticed on the blogs that we can now see the negative commenters....Sweet. How long have we had that option?

Tough decision, whenever 1.37 beta happens : go on 1.37 or stay on 1.36 with mods?
