@JoaoRabit Ah, thanks! So it's this bridge. (There's also a cool little Scania tipper truck with a taglift axle in that shot of the bridge.)

That pretty much explains it. They put their design signature on both of them. I wonder if there could be other similar bridges out there around the world

The list says:
Founded - 6000 BC
Scrolled down list says:
2000 - 1000 BC
Your wiki says:
400 BC

So... which one is it?

Carl And I are talking about oldest Continiusly inhabitedand holding a city status, from wiki page about Plovdiv "Site inhabited since Neolithic times. Hypothesized that it was precisely in the 4th Century BC when Philipopolis (Plovdiv) emerged as a city." Athens recorded history starts at 1600BC

The reason Argos "still in Greece" is not first 7000bc is because of this "The city has been cycling between village and city status for 7,000 years. Recorded history begins in mid 2nd millennium BC."

If Argos is 7000 years old then IT should be the oldest. I'm afraid I need to disagree on a philosophical standpoint.

Every single city starts off as a settlement. Cycling between village and city shouldn't really matter as populations increase and decline due to a variety of factors, such as war (when settlements are completely destroyed and need to be completely rebuild).

Written records can also cause some misunderstandings. For example: If a castle was built on hill A in 400 BC and the only surviving source is a record stating "I visited castle on hill A in 100 BC" would it be correct to say that the castle was built in 100 BC?

yes, until other evidence is found that dates it even further back, this happened all the time in history that something was dated but then evidence was found it is even older then first said, be it because of other findings or because technology got better and more precise to pinpoint how old something really is

I agree

You have Recorded Histrory. It means you have writtings saved to this date, example "Homer's Iliad and odyssie, Herodotus History,
And you have archeological findings.

Examble. Athens Recorded history 1600 BC, Arceological findings 5000bc
Also you have to consider when a settlement becomes a City.

Last thing I right on the subject we are getting of topic
