I doubt SCS waste another blog on viewpoints. It came to ATS and ETS2 will also get it. But no point in mentioning it again imo. Do another feature.

Back in the old days they a had trigger / button on the floor of the cabin (IRL)
In game my mouse is used for steering / look around, CC and engine - / exhaust - / jake brake, which is available is applied

Schematics (Volvo)
That's an exhaust brake. (Restricts the flow of exhaust) A Jake Brake holds the exhaust valves open hydraulically to use the engine itself as a brake.

A jake brake is installed in some diesel engines and releases compressed air in the cylinders
Due to the load noise it makes the system is illegal to use in city areas
Office moved to Fort Collins, Colorado

Only some cities prohibit engine brakes.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see it. From what I can tell, "content that ATS has that ETS2 does not" is pretty consistently a sore spot in blog responses. There are unfortunately a lot of people who probably do not consider a feature to exist unless it's in ETS2, and they probably have a lot of overlap with the people who cannot tell that such a feature would almost certainly be back-ported if well-received.

It might give them the chance to show off a random landmark or two, at least, so it wouldn't be totally pointless.

there are only 3, Dacia, Octavia and S-Max
Great news, rumors are that the Dacia Sandero will be in the game!

Correction for both of you, only some cities prohibit unmuffled use of it.

a muffled jake brake (such as the VEB....usually) is quiet enough to be used in those cities without any issues.

Also, @plykkegaard , you got it wrong, it does not add compressed air in the cylinder, but rather open the exhaust valve during part of the compression stroke(usually the end) as to release a good part of the energy that is returned the expansion stroke (in addition to the combustion energy) to the crankshaft by the intake charge being "uncompressed"

Here a better explanation by Jake Brakes Systems themselves :
Small footnote, I did try to find something explaining the VEB (as the VEB is something a bit strange, combining a jake brake with an exhaust brake, but it's a bit hard to find info on it's workings)

That's what I am saying. ETS2 will also get it. They don't have to blog it though. If they do, they do. I'm just saying why blog it twice basically. Sure its a different game but both games always get the same features. Just put it in the 1.39 open beta list of what's coming blog. Random events and detours. Neither got blog specific post iirc. I am sure someone will correct me but I am not going thru old blogs just to confirm. Random Events and Detours was something that was tossed into the list of features.

When cities say no Engine brake, they mean no engine brake. So no correction there actually. I said "some". Majority of the signs will not say anything about mufflers. All signs I have seen in real life only say " No Engine Brake". There are a few that I have seen in doing a Google search that says what you mentioned about mufflers.

I'd like to see it like this: SCS will not make a dedicated blog post about viewpoints in ETS2, but they won't introduce it unmentioned either. So I think they will be a part of 1.39 (not every detail of a new version has to be identical between ATS and ETS2, which is how viewpoints came to ATS first) and it will just be mentioned in the update feature list.

When this new viewpoint feature comes to San Francisco, I so hope the Golden Gate bridge is one of those cutscenes :)
I love SCS Software 💖

Most of the new features come to ATS first ,then ETS2 the next update or 2 updates after, for example, Multiple pivot points for Trailers, Random road events, Detours,viewpoints......
