SCS Forum "Lost Password" Recovery...

#1 Post by n4gix1303 » 05 Oct 2014 17:54

...or rather lack thereof...

Last Monday my main development computer suffered a catastrophic hardware failure on the motherboard, specifically the USB support, so would not even complete the POST. It consistently reported a "B4" error code in the lower right corner, which indicates it was unable to find a keyboard.

As a result, I had to buy a new machine and have been busy recovering all of my software and getting things reconfigured. This means of course that I've been completely unable to login here since apparently I cannot remember my password!

Worse, there's no option (despite what the generic FAQ states) to even Reset one's password. I simply cannot fathom why this option isn't enabled.

Nor apparently is there even an address where one can email an administrator for manual assistance! :o

My original username is "n4gix" using password "?"

Obviously I had to create a new account with the username "n4gix1303" and had to set up an alternate email address with my IP, which fortunately I could easily do.

Is there anyone I could contact to somehow either find out my original password, or at least allow me to Reset my password. I'd really would like to continue with my original account... :ugeek:

I'll PM the admins and ask them to send a reset password.

It is not wise to contest forum moderators; they have more ways to admonish than you have of evading, (Shin'a'in Proverb) :)

I keep all my passwords in my brain. So if I should loose it it wouldn't matter anyway :P

That works fine until your memory modules start to fail and you need an upgrade, and who knows when one will be available for Humans? That could be tomorrow, next month or many years away! That's why I use a slightly modernized version of writing them down. Now if I can just remember where I put that USB stick... Image
