What is this about Forum and Wiki being unavailable?

Does this mean they are shutting the entire Forum site down over the entire weekend, or that there may be some periodic outages over the weekend?

It's probably a server change to resolves the recurring issues that the forum had over the last few months

And told as it's been; it means it will not be available at all for all that period of time.

Seems some kind of hardware/infrastructure migration involved in here.

Nahh that's easy done and can be done while running it will just act a bit weird eventually

2 days means hardware migration, if I am lazy an upgrade of forum without plugins / modifications can be done in an hour or so
Data migration and verification takes for ages

Yep.

Hardware migration is always a process that is complicated...which is why I prefer working on VMs on a SAN

Just have to transfer the running instance to another server, instead of doing a data transfer :p

Yes it is a bit surprising we have pure iron out there and not VMs, everything is so much easier

We can't know if they aren't n a VM instead of directly over the hardware. But consider that a hardware migration perfectly could be because they were going to migrate to a different ISP/server warehouse. I could guess for that on an announce of 48h shutdown.
