Re: Steam inventory mods restiction discussion [Questions Answered]
So, what is the best "legal" way to modify parts to fit on a new size cab, chassis etc without requreiing users to purchase a DLC or breaking the game in such a way, users report pmd errors etc etc? Is it legal to include a modified pmd file, but no sii file?
Also, what about parts which were created pre-dlc? Do they have to be removed if a DLC now has them?
It's a shame legal stuff has to get in the way of modding now.

Who should I contact through PM? It seems I cannot send it to you, should I pick a random moderator? I would like to ask some legality matter with my own mod to be sure I'm doing things right.Mohegan13 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2020 11:48If you see something you think breaks the rules (or the law) on this forum contact a Moderator/use the report button.
If it's on Steam Workshop use the report button.
If it's anywhere else contact SCS directly via their email address or use the PM system.
When in doubt just contact SCS privately so they can look into it.

Marviluck, Moderators aren't SCS employees and can't answer those questions. SCS staff have their names in gold.

If it contains any texture/art assets you can't release it publicly. But you can link to those assets in the DLC so that anyone who doesn't own it will see a red texture error.

I reserve the right to be 100% wrong.
But on my tombstone when I go, just put 'death by rock and roll'.

I didn't know moderators couldn't answer these questions, will seek into contact proper staff then, thanks.
Well, about this, if we try to upload a mod with a def path in the .sii to a non-existent .pmd file, the workshop uploader tool won't allows us to upload it to steam at all. Unless I'm missing the point, hence my concern and look for clarification.

Models are a tough one, I would reach out to SCS about clarification on those ones. The way I understand it, you're only allowed to include models if you need to edit the model to make a new cargo work or something.
Generally speaking models are usually overlooked, so long as you only link to the textures in the DLC - I know there are other mods on Steam that do include just the model files, most likely for the same reason you're asking. But I would double check with @Max or via email just to be sure.

Quote removed - Don't quote the post above - Rule 2.12
I contacted some other staff member, but I will try to contact Max also then. And thank you, I'm a bit confused and kept thinking about this, hopefully I didn't screw up.

You add a line with dlc_dependencies[]: "package_name" and that's about it. You can read it further here: https://modding.scssoft.com/wiki/Docume ... od_manager

Re: Steam inventory mods restiction discussion [Questions Answered]
I have a question: does this limitation apply to the FIA ETRC trailers that are being modified for the current Work of Trucks event?
Re: Steam inventory mods restiction discussion [Questions Answered]
This limitation does not apply to event trailers. (The FIA ETRC event was 2 years ago).
