Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I can already do everything with my Steam controller except bring up the menu for seat/light adjustment, service call, etc. But I very rarely need to use those.Bandit & The Snowman wrote: ↑08 Dec 2021 12:52 Considering gamepads do have a limited number of buttons, does this sound like we will get modifiers, or are they going to pack lots of functions into “quick menus” with sub menus and sub sub menus?
I do think this is a sign that console releases are on the horizon. That'd be a huge boon to the userbase, especially if they come to Gamepass.

Yes, to everybody. It seems we are all living in the groundhog day; all stuck in that corona-sh** cycle.
About consoles. @oldmanclippy they have mentioned their intention several times, to port to consoles. They had even job offers aimed at this if I recall correctly. The best of all (for us) is that it would be useless to try to port the game in their current state. So, the goal to go to consoles market is an extra incentive to speed up the changes the core engine needs. And we all will benefit from that, not just the console ported version.
Gamepad better support is one milestone in all that process.

Not sure, as several people have said Steam Deck is the first device with gamepad-like controls that is going to be supported, so the feature has to be ready.oldmanclippy wrote: ↑08 Dec 2021 16:31I do think this is a sign that console releases are on the horizon.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Probably just so they can do another blog post about it with ATS pictures.
Although I am starting to wonder if they want to do a blog post every day this week to end the year with or something.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
I think the reason that the OB for ATS is still open, is that there are several new features that are shared between ETS2 and ATS: ownable dumpers, new loading screen images, interior cabin sound update, new SDF fonts, world map legend filters, improved controller support, and possible more.
Now that the v1.43 update of ETS2 has been released, it is quite possible that some of those shared features contain bugs. The next few days can be used to fix those bugs before the v1.43 update of ATS is released.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Why bugtest a game only by a small internal test team, when there are a lot of gamers who indirectly can test the game too...? I think it makes totally sense.

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
no it doesnt, if there are still bugs SCS has to fix, neither of the games should leave open beta, especially if it is shared code, this is total nonsense to release one game and the other not with the same bugs

Re: SCS General Discussion Thread
Ofcourse the internal test team has already fixed most known bugs. But if you take a look at the bug section on this forum, it's very clear that a lot of bugs are not discovered by this internal test team. We, the gamers, are discovering a lot of bugs.
Now, normally with the release of a small update with very few shared features there is no need to release such a small update for both ATS and ETS2 on different moments. But now, this 1.43 update is quite a big update with a lot of shared features. So there is a way bigger chance that the 1.43 update will contain some bugs. Bugs which aren't discovered yet by the internal test team. Bugs that will be discovered by us, the gamers.
Now SCS has the choice: release the 1.43 update for both ATS and ETS2 at the same time, with the disadvantage that both updates will contain the same bugs. Or release the 1.43 update only for ETS2, wait a few days for bugs that are gonna be discovered by the gamers, fix those bugs, and then release 1.43.1.1 for both ATS and ETS2.
Ofcourse there's also another possibility: the 1.43 update for ATS contains one or more features that need more internal testing.
