Years ago, AP-7 north Barcelona (the Spanish highway we have linking to France in the Mediterranean side) was all 2 lanes. And I really like those slime races. Mostly because all the morons driving 140km/h or more (and there wer A LOT of those) can't do nothing but to brake hard and stay behind. I enjoyed to see their faces in despair.

There's still lots of roads in Spain where that can happen, but none has the truck traffic that had that AP-7 back in time neither the amount of ass**** driving like if they were F1 racers (mostly due there was no radar, and usually no mobile controls, from the French border to Barcelona; and they know it)

I too notice this Ai behaviour, i don' t seem to get it too often so i don't mind so much, as it is realistic. In the UK it's sometimes referred to as elephant racing, as you can imagine racing elephants on a narrow track, you'd never get to overtake :)
On the subject of Iberia and AI, the Spanish toll lanes could do with tweaking, nearly all traffic heads for the right 2 lanes, hardly ever using the other lanes.

Yeah elephant racing, did you know that an elephant can move at speeds up to 40 km/h, quite an accomplishment
Slime racing hehe I like it, those slimy bastards :D

Don't most European countries have a law that prohibits trucks from using the left lane when they aren't passing slower traffic? It's illegal in the United States, and I assumed there were similar laws in Europe.

40 is what it feels like when you're behind two trucks ;) "Elephant race" seems to be an international term and phenomenon. And the first thing that came to my mind when I read the comments here was this satirical German radio sketch, "Stenkelfeld: Elefantenrennen".

What I know in most EU countries trucks are not allowed to overtake when this sign is placed (Swedish in this case). Otherwise I think it's ok :?

In Spain trucks and trains of vehicles longer than 7meters will only use the 2 right lanes on interurban roads (the rule says outside a town), even if there's 3 or more lanes. They should take the right one and use the next one to overtake.

They can overtake as long as it's allowed, but never invading a third lane in the process. Overtaking for trucks may not be allowed (same sign as above) in certain places like some mountain passes.

Oh, that part about trucks only being allowed in the right two lanes in Spain is interesting! Now that I think about it, I might have actually broken that law while driving around the Iberia DLC a few times. :?

Are those truck lane restrictions in Europe taken very seriously? In some places of the United States, it doesn't seem that most drivers really care about it.
