@JackBurton
Good morning, my American friend, I will respond to your situation saying that it really is for us human beings in any country in the world to really think about why the radicalism echoed by some people on the political spectrum of the World Left they think that absolutely 100 must be preserved % of the Amazon rainforest and also 100% of the arctic region they think are places where there can be no road that there can be no economic development So the supposed defenders of the poorest populations actually sacrifice the poorest people in the name of an extreme Eco radicalism.

for example the br-319 highway, which here in Brazil is affectionately called the Porto Velho-Manaus highway, it is very important in Brazil, it seems to have an idea the city of Manaus is the largest city in the international Amazon an area that has approximately 9 million square kilometers is the largest city has 5 million people has a very important Industrial zone and there is only no more jobs and development because there is an extreme radicalism that prevents the paving of these 400 km which is called the phantom highway we also call this stretch 400 km without asphalt and that there is no asphalt reconstructed by national pressure from socialist movements and also from international socialist movements and NGOs, we call it the Middle stretch because exactly the central part of the highway of approximately 800 km and for the sake of curiosity it has already it was paved in the 1960s and 1970s and was Operative until 1989 when the highway was officially extinct and it is very interesting o the bridges were made of wood they came into existence until the 1980s when in Brazil a character emerged that the world applauded called Chico Mendes an radical Eco and I heard something very interesting because there was the union of the owners of these gigantic ferries that transport trucks between Belém and Manaus and the radical Latin American Eco socialists from Chico Mendes and the result was that it is very interesting that some stretches that still have asphalt that is approximately 400 km or half the highway at its two ends are interesting that presents some parts that were clearly excavated because only the surface layer of asphalt was removed from the continuous base and has geometric shapes of rectangular square.

I just want to conclude this humble post as the theme has awakened thinking about the need to reconcile the environment with human development needs. I tell you that some regions of the world are possible and desirable that people begin to understand that we cannot be this is true for radicals in the interior of Australia called Outback this is true for the Brazilian Amazon and also neighboring countries this is also a reality for Africa but it is also a reality for countries considered developed like the United States and Canada Europe in that too it is true for Greenland things need balance it is possible for you to make highways to take supplies to generate jobs to take industries to take offices to take trade even tourism Zeca the radicals speak so much as an economic activity Ecological tourism as if this lists will arrive only by plane on the boat making an extremely expensive and little tourism profitable for both the population of the tourist destination areas and the potential tourists so I hope that these posts that contain very little politics but a lot of Realism at least this is the reality of the northern region of Brazil because the region is completely different of what many of our friends on the forum can imagine what you see on the Discovery Channel represents only 5% of the Amazon 95% of the Amazon you can occupy development and it is a region that already has large national parks, large indigenous reserves and everything that Brazilian society is asking from the world and to understand that there are more than 20 million people in the region within the Brazilian territory alone and they need to get out of poverty. It is necessary to have highways to generate jobs and lower the cost of living, which is really high maybe when you convert the currency of the Euro and the dollar is cheap but within the Brazilian context you live in the Amazon region nica that is a region that has a lot of unemployment and the cost of food and all these things is very expensive really the person begins to understand why the region is miserable.

Oh?

Of course I like the drive-thru toll booths best (as much as one can like toll booths at all...) but even the slow-down automated ones are somewhat bearable when you approach them by coasting.

And I don’t believe in OB in January tbh. Beginning of even middle of February is my bet.

Why would transport an olive tree? I'm not from the Mediterranean part of the continent, so I don't know all the habits ;)

Also, someone crashed the barriers on image 12
