It's not just about working on your truck, there's also 7 other players to consider in convoy.

In theory I think even the weakest potato could manage it, but these are also things SCS have to take into account. Although if I am honest, I think they should consider changing the minimum spec with the next map DLCs, even if it's just making the current "recommended" the new "minimum". As much as I love the fact SCS tries to be accommodating, there's also a point where they need to consider future over past.

Far as I'm aware, All the paints jobs are like that. Like have a low texture when up close. so if anything its all the same.

They just need to make it easy and accessible for people with potato computers to remain on the last update before requirements get raised so that they're still able to play their game without Steam mucking things up and automatically downloading said update. Not sure how they pull that off besides a big flashing warning on the launcher screen after the update that reads "IF YOU DON'T MEET THE NEW SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, GO TO THE BETAS TAB AND SELECT BRANCH 1.XX AND DISABLE UPDATES".

That being said, I doubt SCS will raise the requirements anytime soon. They know a significant portion of their ETS2 fan base has potatoes so they have been accommodating in that regard.

Maybe we can some sort of paintjob scaling in the graphics menu?

Whoever feels like giving up performance for quality could crank it up for self

As I wrote earlier, there could be a new option in the graphic settings "Painting texture resolution".

Not sure if this goes here, but since you're talking about paint jobs, i was just looking at some of the new Neon Paint jobs and something bugged me in one of the more difficult paint jobs to make.

For the Freightliner Cascadia, the Sunrise paint job, there are a few things i would have done different, for example i would have made the pink stars actual (changeable) metallic, and left and right are uneven, would not have done that, but i won't hold those 2 against SCS, i do like the paint job pack in general, what's really bugging me in that paint job and i think should be changed is that the Sideskirts don't line up with the Cab.

there is an easy solution, SCS should finally tie the texture resolution to the graphics settings, if you use ultra then it should use high resolution textures, if you use low the lowest possible then, and for people with custom settings an option where they can select it manually, almost every game uses this technique so SCS cant say it wont work

Isn't there already a 'Texture Quality' option in the settings? Why not just use that?
