Red signal offense driving straight through green lights in Coeur d'Alene

#1 Post by Steve Pitts » 31 Jul 2021 11:43

ATS 64-bit v1.41.1.10s on 64-bit Windows 10 [Version 10.0.19043.1110]

Whilst driving straight on through visibly green traffic lights in Coeur d'Alene I received multiple red signal offsense fines. The video shows two consecutive occasions but I also got pinged passing through the next one.

Reproducibility unknown as it was tedious enough driving through that section of road without choosing to go back and try it again :)

Game log from the session:

Screenshot of location on map (taken whilst paused at the end of the video segment):

(Cut down scale wise to get it to upload here. Full version visible on Steam at: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 30D61B439/)

No coordinates as I don't play with the console enabled.

Link to video, which shows the issue quite clearly - although as I said above I also got pinged going through the next light on green:

I am guessing it maybe due to your turn signal to make a left turn being on. Maybe the game senses it and thinks you are making a left turn which has the red light.

@PBandJ I suspect that you might be right, based on subsequent experimentation (although the results were not entirely consistent). Obviously I should have cancelled the left indicator after changing lanes at the set of lights before the video (where the right hand lane was right turn only) but it hardly seems worthy of a fine. Perhaps a feature rather than a bug then :)

Hello,

I tested too and indeed, it gives me the same thing as you.

Without the left turn signal : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc2DpBXlr50

With the left turn signal : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q--5hEbS4A0

I would test in other cities to find out if this is common but it is very strange. :?

I would think that is a bug because you are in the right lane to go straight, so it should not matter what your lights say. People leave turn signals on all the time. That is why I was always taught to disregard turn signals coming towards me because you never know if the other driver is actually going to turn or go straight.

I've seen this the other way too, I accidentally wound up in the left turn lane into a blocked street and as long as you keep your left indicator on you can go forward through the red light without being fined.
