#1 Post by grimes » 06 Nov 2014 16:40

This mod simulates winter.

Key Features
Frosty winter weather and environment
Frosty roads, vegetation and rooftops
Snow/Sleet instead of rain
Winter daylight hours and temperatures
Random cloudy, misty and sunny weather
Old vegetation types replaced by new ones across maps
Heavy Winter Addon and Physics in download*

*Heavy Winter Addon provides snowy/slushy looking roads and a snow covered landscape with less grass.
*Physics – Makes the roads a little more slippy

Works with Promods, TSM, MHA, Rus Map and others, compatible with all map DLCs.

Place Frosty above Realistic Building Lights mod.
Place Frosty above Drive Safely's Sound Fixes Pack to remove summer sounds like insect noises.

Compatibility Latest Version: 1.28

Changes in v6.4
Weather improvements
Updated for maps
Frosty roads in default version replaced with normal roads
Mod considerably reduced in size
Other fixes and improvements

I'll give this a try tomorrow!

I'll have to say though, its the most realistic looking winter mod I've seen, as you don't get just full blanket of snow across the whole of Europe.
My Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 ♦ ASUS GeForce GTX-750 Ti 2GB ♦ 16.0 GB RAM ♦ Windows 10

Works Perfect For Me On Steam Beta v1.14.x. I Must Say What A Great Mod This Is. It's Lovely To Drive Through And Very Realistic Because There's Not Blankets Of Snow Everywhere And Truck Isn't Slipping And Sliding Everywhere. Great Work Grimes :)

I'll agree with both the above. A nice gentle covering of frost and/or snow. Just like last night IRL. Reminds me of summers in the N.E. of England when I lived there. Oh, I still do!!

So downloaded and installed on one of my profiles ready for a tour.

Very good looking mod, thanks. I've edited climate files to work with 1.14 version of game.

Thanks! I'll add this link. So its def> climate> default now, do you know which version they started that?

UPDATE !!! Dropped the mod into a couple of (in use) profiles but sadly crashed them. :(
Works OK on a vanilla profile/game though. This is on v1.13.3 with several traffic mods etc. installed.

Here's the last couple of lines from the game log, pre-crash:

Code: Select all

317 00:00:16.933 : game
318 00:00:17.250 : [bullet] Starting physics server: Bullet
319 00:00:17.257 : <ERROR> [unit] File '/def/nice_weather.sii':
320 00:00:17.257 : <ERROR> [unit] The unit 'nice.sun.01' of type 'sun_profile' has dangling pointer (to 'hdr.night') in the attribute named 'hdr_parameters'.
321 00:00:17.258 : <ERROR> [unit] File '/def/nice_weather.sii':
322 00:00:17.258 : <WARNING> [unit] The pointer to 'hdr.night' looks like dangling pointer.
323 00:00:17.258 : <ERROR> load_filtered_unit_array() - Failed to load units from file (/def/nice_weather.sii)
324 00:00:17.258 : <ERROR> /def/nice_weather.sii read failed !
It's late and I am a bit "monitor blind" but I will sort it hopefully.

Also if vrinho has it working on v1.14 I'll just have to hang on until it (v1.14) is released.

But I'll say again a very nice looking mod and a cracking excuse to turn down vegetation detail!!

Thanks for the comments Elmer, do you have any weather or lighting mods installed on the profiles it crashed?
