Guys just make sure the name of the file that you're downloading is the same of the mod, maybe is just stupid update of Windows Defender that detects everything from sharemods as a virus

I've downloaded a bunch of mod updates from Sharemods over the past few days. No issues.

I'm quite IT savvy. I've seen a lot of false positives in mods. This doesn't look like a false positive to me. Seriously it looks like an infected file.

May be your "super" antivirus can say what exactly file is infected?.. :)
Generally, what's your problem?!.. Just DO NOT use this mod and sleep well. ;)

Not that tech savvy. It is absolutely a false positive. Do you seriously think that a handfull of people have found a "rogue" virus on a package that has been scanned by a couple of thousand other people and multiple AV softwares? Or that Knox would even put one in his mod?

OK. Sorry I spoke. Don't have 'a problem' Just trying to be helpful.

I never meant Knox was knowingly trying to infect people.. People can pick up virus's unknowingly and pass them on. Thats what happens.

And if the same RAR file downloads without a virus warning from one source, and with one from the other then that means to me, one is infected.
This is not a warning when downloading.. its when unrar-ing the RAR file.

2 seemingly identical RAR files downloaded from 2 different file sharing sites. One unrars fine. One throws up a virus warning.

But like I said... not pointing any fingers or trying to dirty Knox's work on a great mod.
I found a virus. I posted to share this info and warn others. I got a load of abuse. Fair enough.

The point is you did not find a virus at all. You had a false positive. You are simply refusing to accept that. The files have been scanned thousands of times by multiple AV's. And its not abuse, its people correcting you on your false assumption.

Okay. I downloaded RAR files from both ShareMods (__SM) and ModsBase (__MB) hostings, and then compared them with "original" in my computer (by checksums SHA-1 and MD5).
Here are results...

MD5:

Code: Select all

9f726af70ac8737e15e4d3bc3d9c8b22 *magnum_updates_v22.1_by_knox_xss___MB.rar

9f726af70ac8737e15e4d3bc3d9c8b22 *magnum_updates_v22.1_by_knox_xss___SM.rar
SHA-1:

Code: Select all

As you can see, they all are identical. So your...

... means at least two things:
1) you have a virus in your computer
2) you have stupid antivirus (sorry)
