Model companies have to pay for a license to make models of old and new trucks too, just like SCS does. Anytime you use someone else's brand, logo, trademark, etc, on your product you have to get permission from that company. Usually that involves paying for a license. As for using web pages like sharemods to generate money off of your mods, that's a grey area just like free mods are. Its possible that the ad revenue could be considered a donation, however I'm guessing here and it actually could end up getting people in trouble eventually. Donations are usually fine, but generating ad revenue from something that infringes on copyrights or intellectual property rights are technically illegal.RichardH wrote: ↑10 Aug 2017 16:46 Here's some food for thought;
How come modeltruck manufacturers are able to produce a whole slew of truck makes? New ones, old ones.... especially old ones
And is it okay to make a free mod that uses logos, brand, similarity but all of the sudden not okay to make some money? Oh and how about modders generating some revenue thru them crappy file hosters with their close to ransomware style ads?? I digress.....
Again, just food for thought.

SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

I'd like to see the Fiat FNM 210 come back, and some other classics would be welcome as well.

Well, if somebody were to make an ERF EC, it might end up being the only thing I ever drive in this game
