After several failed attempts, I have a question for the "expert drivers" out there:

Has anybody yet succeeded in getting a loaded rigid (with full trailer attached) from Nordkalk quarry near Kirkenes up that steep hill? It works with semitrailers, of course, but what about rigids? How do I get enough weight on the powered axles to prevent them from spinning wildly?

Any help would be appreciated.

tweaking the chassis.sii
on
residual_travel[]: 0.1
residual_travel[]: 0.088
residual_travel[]: 0.088
give the powerd axle`s higher value and last (tandem) axles lower value

powered_axle[0]: false (not realistic but maybe set also true
powered_axle[1]: true
powered_axle[2]: true

kerb_weight[0]: 5650
kerb_weight[1]: 2335
kerb_weight[2]: 2335
when not all axles are powered: then try shift some weight to power axle (but bee aware that the front axle need some grip for steering

But since the chassis defs are part of Kast's mod, this would be a general problem for all rigids, or not?
I'll ask the same question is his thread, just to be sure.

6x4 or 6x2 ? If last. Try to lift the axle. Problem is, trucks dont have a load. And truck need to drag all that trailer weight behind. I really havent played with the kerb weights recently. There was always problems with physics early days :lol: i just hope scs will add rigids, then the load can be loaded to truck too :D

i`m not sure if it is only rigid or latest physics, and `kast` is right about load and weight.
I experienced also bad grip with 6x4 or 6x2 , with non rigid trucks as well. (maybe only `older` modded trucks?)
but as there is no weight on the rigid, then not shift weight but rise the value, of powered axles.

Found these settings in two Actros mods (from "Actros 5 Crew" and "Alex"):

@LadenSwallow, two thoughts on this issue:

1) is it possibly a weight_disribution parameter issue? I've had issues with BDF setups in the past - sometimes the weight_distribution was not on the trailer and I was doing 'wheelies' with the truck or I would get horrible understeer. I'm not even sure if these values are still valid but you could try changing 'trailer' to 'semitrailer', this should theoretically transfer some of the dolly trailer's weight to the 5th wheel / rear axles.

2) It occurred to me that we might be able to adjust the weight of the BDF load carrier on the truck to better simulate the weight of a cargo on the truck. Why not experiment with the BDF's chassis def and adjust the trailer_mass values upwards? This should place more weight on the rear wheels. I've wanted to play with this for a while but have not got around to it yet.

@LadenSwallow yeah, finally did it ... (not the best wheels for this mission...excuses, excuses) :P
I also have increased my loads..so this was with 41 tons of apples ... well they don't only find gold here...
also made a video, but it's still uploading as it took me 55 minutes uphill.... another viral!? video from me ...failing miserably or ... :D
I might link it later...but here's a shot from above...still a challenge to get to the main roads from here..this was just the first 300meters :lol:

small mistakes at the start... :lol: and in and out of settings to adjust a few things....
Truck had some damages aswell, reason why it stalls on me a few times...
and I believe ProMods have the slippery roads on this (blaming&excuses)

as mentioned...it isn't a short clip, but I hate to give up... Volvo POWER 8-)

Failure IS not an option...still struggling,
that first part was a PITA...however the second one isn't easy at all ...
I did switched over to my automatic (some more excuses) :lol:
