SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Re: [REL] [1.40] RJL Scania R & Streamline v21.4.24
Since the moderators don't like quoting images, I'm just reusing the link from the OP here as this picture illustrates my point pretty perfectly:

This mod has one persistent problem IMO that it's inherited from the SCS model, and which might date back as far as Scania Truck Simulator: when you apply a bright color to the truck, it looks dirty, and it gets worse the brighter the color is. It's like a grey filter is applied to the whole truck... which is probably exactly what's happening, in the form of a shadow map that's too aggressive.
I believe the fix is to find that shadow map, then run it through a brightness/contrast correction to tone the shadows down and make the non-shaded bits actually white, but IIRC the game does weird things if you just straight up replace DDS files without going through the blender tools. (And, I'd have to figure out which map is doing this).
The same issue applies with some of the other older SCS trucks - the Iveco Stralis for sure, haven't played enough with the rest to remember which ones. The test is essentially to open the truck in the truck browser and set the paint color to white - on the modern trucks, like the SCS Scania NG, the truck will indeed be white; affected trucks will look dirty and grey instead.
(A related issue is in Fleming V's BDF pack, where the truck box and trailers all look really grimy when you try to make them white).

@Winchester1979 This is because in the old days all trucks had a standard ambient occlusion map for the painted parts. Since the creation of the 2016 Scanias, SCS have used a different method of shading in which they use vertex coloring instead and a plain grey base texture instead of an AO map. I do not intend to change this any time soon due to the sheer amount of painted parts in the mods. I can however have a look at editing the AO map at some point.
@torettogamer Let me quote what I've written earlier.

LoaderSaints wrote: ↑29 Apr 2021 12:02 You would have to edit the interior definitions of this mod (by making an addon mod with the correct files copied into it) and use the model from that mod instead as the interior model. That would only require the use of notepad++ or some other similar text editor. However, this is just an assumption.

With a little delay I wanted to thank Master RJL for what he did with this truck.
It is truly a monument of the game, it is just exceptional.
Thank you again, the ETS 2 community will not forget you RJL.
Another big thank you for LoaderSaints for allowing this mod to continue to exist
Respect guys

It's all one AO map for *all* the trucks? If so, then fixing that one map would fix a whole lot of my issues with the trucks I don't currently like using... and even if it's just on a per truck basis, then knowing how to fix one would let us fix the others. They really look kind of sorry compared to the Scania NG and Renault T.LoaderSaints wrote: ↑30 Apr 2021 09:14 @Winchester1979 This is because in the old days all trucks had a standard ambient occlusion map for the painted parts. @Winchester1979 Each truck has their own AO map of course. The problem is that SCS also uses the AO map of the Scania R cabin based trucks (R 2009 and Streamline) for other than painted parts as well and this is inherited to the mods.
@Ryder Steele First post, MediaFire folder, there's a folder called Templates.

I believe the file in question is \base\vehicle\truck\scania_rcab_2009\color.dds
