Re: ETS 2 - 144hz vs 60hz monitors
Yeah, my monitor doesn't support G-sync unfortunately... I have an ASUS VG248QE. I've been been playing 85 hz lately, kind of a trade off between performance and coil whine from my card. I'm leaning towards getting an 1440p monitor at 60hz though, cause I don't really play fps games. G-sync seems to be good for games like ETS, yes, so I will want that. And 60 hz seems to be good enough.

If you lock to 30fps you have no lag at all, the game is buttersmooth like 60fps but graphics can be higher because gpu dont have to run extra hard for 60fps.angrybirdseller wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017 02:37 Only need 30 fps to play without problems sure gonna lag at 30fps, but 60 fps is good compromise. I don't see point running truck simulator at 144fps don't need reaction time like first person shooter.
Scandinavian truckdriver.
Re: ETS 2 - 144hz vs 60hz monitors
Just switched from a basic 60hz panel to a 144hz one. Haven't had the chance to test it out yet on ETS2 or ATS.
I have a question about settings though. I've been running some taxing truck mods on these games lately, and may not be able to run at 60+ fps all the time. The new monitor has the FreeSync technology but so far I have a GTX1080 GPU so no FreeSync for me at this point.
I am wondering what in-game settings could possibly do to make my experience the best. I expect that in some cases framerate could go beyond 144hz, so I need to cap that somehow. I don't know if this is possible with the in-game functions. Typically I use RivaTuner to cap fps when necessery, but I'm not sure what the best option is right now.
Is there anything else to consider when running higher refresh rate on ETS2 or ATS?

depending on monitor it also can use Freesync with any nvidia card, look up if nvidia has certified it to be compatible

Sadly not listed as compatible, and also this monitor was tested on another PC and FS didn't work with another Nvidia card, but I'll try that myself one day none the less.
I guess I'll just have to test how high the fps go naturally and see if I need to cap it with RivaTuner.

my monitor isnt "certified" also but i can use it, i only noticed that i sometimes see green stripes on my panel while loading ETS/ATS
this whole certifying crap is bs anyway, FreeSync is free and can be used by anybody, they just should implement it into the drivers and not this hick hack with certifying monitors

Re: ETS 2 - 144hz vs 60hz monitors
I'll have to see how things work with FreeSync. hoping that it does work.
Running ATS just now for the first time with the new monitor and fps hovers between 90 and 120 when driving a mod truck. An SCS truck would certainly improve fps as I know that already from using my old screen.
Have to have some cap though, if I don't cap the fps in any way, I get annoying coil whine from my GPU on menus where fps goes to 400.... It has zero coil whine under any normal use, but 300+ fps in games and it does get noisy.

@TurboJ you could try to set vertical sync in the nvidia control panel as adaptive. This way it only activates when/if fps exceeds the monitor's refresh rate, if memory serves me right. In hot days, I also set power management mode to optimal power, as temperatures here reached 35° C (95° F) this winter. This greatly reduces coil whine for me.
