@SquaredCircle - to save you some editing, there are LOD mods for the veg in my workshop I put up a long time ago for people who weren't comfortable doing the edits suggested at roextender on their own. There are 3 different levels there so you can try and find the sweet spot.

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Thanks @Madkine & @Robinicus - this will both save some editing/experimenting.
Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Not particularly high-end, but Ryzen 5700G (integrated GPU) can run ETS2 with high setting on fullhd with 55+ FPS (yes even in Iberian cities). I was quite surprised to see that I dont need to buy discrete GPU anymore

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Think on those AMD APUs like the laptops with an integrated (non-classic-Intel) GPU. So, it's clear they can deliver enough performance for a good playability, unless you want real HUGE FPS numbers or resolutions.
Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
And in the future with RDNA 2 in APU's it will be even better ... presumably.

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Yep, it's what is expected. I think I saw recently some news about AMD finally selling those in open market instead of limit them to prebuilt market.
There was a lot of criticism on that initial only-prebuilt policy but it was just because people can't stop just thinking on themselves instead on being objective on their complains.

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Ok guys, got all the missing parts and moved to the current intel 1200 platform.
"Old" system:
i7-5930k OC to 4.6GHz
3080RTX
16GB RAM
"Problem":
At 4k(!) framerate drops well below 60 which leads to severe stuttering. Vegetation LODs are at 980/990, Traffic and Parking LODs at 4 and 3 respectively. AA through NPI, other settings all maxed to the highest possible value (except resolution/mirror resolution). Other than that, no mods.
Potential solution: Move to a current platform (AMD 5xxx or Intel 11xxx) as the CPU Single Thread Performance should be the bottleneck.
I decided to give the Intel platform a try (i5-11600k) as its Single Thread Performance should be around 40% better than the already OC'd 5930k
"New" System
i5-11600k stock settings, HT off (HT on gives SLIGHTLY worse results in Benchmarks and actual FPS)
32GB RAM; XMP enabled in BIOS, RAM at 3200MHz
First benchmark tests were a little bit discouraging as in CPU-Z and prime both Multi- and Single-Thread-Performance went up about 10% only and Unigine Superposition was exactly the same (latter one definitely CPU-bottlenecked only in VERY old systems)
Fired up ETS2 and tested a collection of scenarios (saved games) which made the old systems stutter.
AND...
BOY...
that's a difference:-)
I only get (VERY minor) stuttering in cases where there's a LOT of vegetation. I would not have expected this huge difference. Especially after the simple benchmarks I ran. Iberia cities at night with rain and traffic that were in the 45FPS class before run smoothly at 60.
I hope this helps a little for someone asking himself what is to be expected from a CPU upgrade like this. At least I really didn't have a clear idea on what to expect so I just tried. Please just note that I assume that most of the stress the system gets is to be attributed to the 4K-resolution but I have not tried it on a different monitor.
Guess it won't be long until I install a traffic mod to enjoy more realism and arrive at the exact same problem again:-)
Thanks a lot guys for helping me out with this!

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Thanks, I was wondering about disabling hyperthreading, for some (server) applications it makes a differenceSquaredCircle wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021 11:23 i5-11600k stock settings, HT off (HT on gives SLIGHTLY worse results in Benchmarks and actual FPS)
I have an old I7 4790 I can use instead of the i5 4670 I am using atm
