Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
If you aren't going to leverage the double amount of threads (and for most people, those 6 cores on that Intel are enough), HT off is the best option. It's not so much what is gained, but why not? It's a performance is there, what a waste not to use it. Together with XMP enable (something lot of people miss); is the second fastest way to gain free performance on a modern computer fast and easy.

8 cores with HT, 4 without, only AMD has an odd number of cores at least until recently

Yes, I meant 6 on the i5-11600K where he did the tests. In yours are 4 without HT, of course.

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
A bit of background why I turned off HT:
Did so with the 5930k as it got the OC stable at a bit lower Voltage (VCore) and resulted in slightly better benchmark results (single thread)
So did it again with the 11600k (which I run at stock settings as OCing it seems to be WAY less interesting on this platform) after a few short tests giving slightly better results in-game as well as in (Single-Thread) benchmarks

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
Additional info regarding the remaining stuttering I experienced:
Almost forgot that I had r_sun_shadow_texture_size at 16384 as up to that value I can see quality differences. I have read that others use very low numbers as they don't see a difference so I attribute this to the 4K-resolution and the relative short distance between my eyes and monitor.
My "worst" test scene is on the main road nortwest of Clermont-Ferrand and I still experienced stuttering there. Yesterday I came across the main road north of Sofia that leads through the forrest and that was a FPS-nightmare:-) So I decided to find the problem - which is the shadow size. Setting it to 8192 put an end to all stuttering everywhere while is just slightly lower quality than the 16384 setting before.

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
at what Resolution ? 1080p, 1440p, 4K
at what ratio? 4:3, 16:10, 21:9, 32:9
i assume somehow 1080p 16:10

the worst for me is having a good setup and falling to 48fps in the Iberian cities with a GPU usage at 50% and once out of town resume 70fps at 80% GPU usage

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
As mentioned a couple of the times the game is single CPU only, in case of low clock speed you have a bottleneck on your CPU as your GPU usage indicates

Re: Hi-End Configuration Optimization
if a r5 5600x at 4650mhz is a bottleneck I can't imagine which processor can run the game, I run between 10% and 17% max on the CPU even on 1 single core I must not go up to more than 70%
