Re: Germany reworked Phase 3

There are almost no scenery towns in Scandinavia and that doesn't made it not enjoyable. And as yourself said, don't expect too much, starting on the fact that most people don't understand the point of the old map rework. It's NOT about rework the landscape (in most cases, that's a consequence, not the goal). The point of the old map reworks is to eliminate the old roads layouts made on a time when they don't have the appropriate tools and know-how to made them more realistic.

So, we shouldn't expect more content to be added: no new roads, cities, scenic towns or that kind of things. Neither a high rework of the cities themselves, most will kept the old look and layout, only changes in textures and vegetation models (and update some light-related assets for the 1.40 in that case). At most, some iconic landmarks could be added if near enough to the roads (like that parking-bridge over the highway near Stuttgart we had been teased already).

The main difference will be in the road layout and specially in the prefabs used at road junctions. That's what the rework is focused to and the big difference between old and new we will find (and not an small difference at all).

Regards

PS: It has been discussed lots of times. There will NOT be ANY "rebuild old zones DLC", never. SCS will before stop any rebuild than to charge by them. Yes, it's naive to think we can pay once the game and receive free updates forever. That's why those updates are so slowly paced; because they are done as investment with the remnants of the benefits from other sales. But it will be economically worse for SCS to sell them as DLC. Because the amount of money they could win would not be better than the extra costs to have to maintain forever a double map version (one for people with and one for people without those DLC). Double the tests, the checks, the bugs to fix.... at the long run that's a lot more cost and headaches than the profit of selling that DLC.

Scandinavia definetly needs a rework as well. Not polishing, a rework. The interchanges are still from the base game. In fact, Denmark doesn't have a single interchange that isn't from the base game. Although, Scandinavia should be done after the whole base map + Going East has been reworked.

The interchanges certainly need to be replaced, and the vegetation needs new textures (which the entire map might get with the upcoming lightning update anyway), and the tall structures popping up in the distance need to be disguised, but aside from that Scandinavia is fine. It doesn't really need extensive rebuilds like UK or Poland. Sure, it is missing a number of major cities - but then, which area doesn't? At least the existing cities seem fairly realistic compared to base map and GE. Although I wouldn't mind to see Copenhagen rebuilt to make it more impressive, as well as some of those missing cities added.

I agree, especially on the vegetation. The football field looking grass is something I've always questioned. It is this obnoxiously bright green that I never quite understood. The DLC won't need an all-around rework, although a few points definetly need loads of love from SCS, to a point that it nearly should be considered a rework. Such as the interchanges. Although I'm quite confident, that they'll eventually do this anyway. Just not anytime soon. Also, if they were to add new cities, they should rather make it a low priority to begin with. A major polish/rework should be their top priority, for the sake of minimizing jumps in quality :)

@Some newbie driver Yes, it doesn't make Scandinavia not enjoyable, however, their presence would make it immensely more enjoyable. Especially Denmark, currently it's as bland as the base game and GE.

As for Germany, yes the rework of the roads and intersections seems to be the current goal, but in the future, after all old roads of the base game have been reworked, SCS should totally go and rework the cities, and maybe add a couple small villages on secondary roads, as well as make some country specific companies for each base game country. Not all companies would have to be replaced, IKEA for example could be present everywhere as in real life, as well as some transport companies. But even if half or 1/3 of the base game companies would be reworked it would be like day and night difference for the immersion.

Agree Denmark is really just an extension on basemap.

That's true, Denmark looks like any GE zone and it's clear it was a very earlier work compared with the rest (in terms of road layout).

If they ever decide to build a Northern Scandinavia DLC they could also do some improvements to the current Scandinavia.

I was thinking about this for a while, how would anyone feel about SCS selling some truck models as separate in-game items? Price could be like 5 euros and come with a couple of paintjobs; then use that part of that revenue to fund reworks of base map + older DLCs.

Wrong topic - that topic is about Germany rework - not paid truck DLCs.
But still, SCS claimed long time ago that all new trucks will be always as free addon.
