Cities Skyline looks far more like a cartoon to me. Not that I find that bad looking or so, but it wouldn't fit ETS2/ATS. I rather hope they improve on the (realistic) lighting instead of going the cell shaded cartoon way.

You guys have not clicked on the dude's video at all? That game is definitely "cartoony" out of the box but the modified video he shared is far from it. The language barrier had a weird effect, I guess.

Whatever happesns with the graphics rework, I _really_ hope there'll be a comprehensive optimisation pass done over the graphics pipeline to improve performance.

Playing in VR, I couldn't care less about additional fidelity (considering you mostly can't see that in current gen VR headsets anyway. It's like playing on an old TV rather than a nice crisp gaming monitor), but what I do care strongly about is maintaining 90fps in VR. That's currently not the case despite having a reasonable gaming PC (i6700K, 32GB RAM, GTX1080) and most settings turned way down.

No I did watch the video. In my opinion, the colors just have the 'flat' cartoon /anime feel to them. Again, overall it's very nice I think, but imho not suited for ATS/ETS2.

(It is a bit weird to have manholes on an overpass though...)

You don't accept any opinion that doesn't match yours... typical net user too.

I've saw the video and they were right. Colors are over-saturated and flat, very bright too. They have a kind of cartoonish aspect (not in the shape of model, but in the color and light) because that's what the developer wanted. No matter how good could be the mods people will make for the game, the render engine will keep handling them this way. And it has to be understood that game engine of Cities games is made mainly to be used on the strategy view. The first person one is an extra but can't be the main view of the game thus it's not made to be optimized on that view. That explains too several shadows flickering that lower the quality.

It means they are bad graphics? Not at all; it's pretty notable the performance they have and the detail they achieve considering how big could an scenario be. Are they graphics suited for a first person /third person driving simulator? No, they are not suited for that purpose; ETS2/ATS are already overall better on that. That doesn't mean there's no aspects in where Cities graphics are better than SCS ones. But in the overall, SCS wins for the purpose of "at road level" view.

And then you can say "I like more the ones of cities". But even anybody can opine what they want, that doesn't made Cities franchise graphics better than SCS ones (again, for the kind of games SCS does).

EDIT: Wrong grammar everywhere.

I'm quite sure I said 'I did watch'. How else would I be able to comment on the manholes? Well to each his own.
