I think their will be more, just be patient, I’d rather wait longer for something good instead of have it now half finished ;)

So far, SSAO only. There's no changes in lighting. The SSAO effects are very subtle. You don't see it in everything and you will not notice them when driving, unless you drive slow or the SSAO affected parts are big (like the big boulders at the road shoulders).

In the future, the bloom needs to go. It's horrible and blinding. No one liked it since version 1.0. I don't know why there's still no simple toggle in the graphics option to turn off bloom. I also don't know why there have never been any efforts to reduce the bloom. Is it purely an artistic decision from SCS graphics department? I don't know. Bloom should never be coupled together with HDR. We still need to rely on mods to disable bloom without disabling HDR.

Doesn't changing the line in the global config disable bloom?

I set mine to 0.5 and it seems to temper the effect quite well. And the change persists on game start. No mod needed.

Interesting. I'll check those out, thanks. I'll be honest, I haven't played the game for a long time. I still would like to see those settings in game. So many useful hidden settings in the config file and yet SCS never tries to make it accessible from inside the game itself. Especially multi-monitor settings.

You can deactivate bloom via console.

Yes thank you. Looks like there have been so many more hidden settings since 2018. Neat, now just need to bring them into in game settings menu since a lot of them are essential...

So if you extract the game files, you will discover a variety of new skyboxes which cannot be loaded unless you load them as your mod folder. I guess this shows, SCS is still working on a lighting rework, just it maybe didn't make 1.38 maybe just beacause they weren't with the finished product. I won't add a thumbnail here just for those who don't want spoilers, again I am not saying new lighting will come, I will just say there are new skyboxes in the game's files which could hint that they are still working on reworking the lighting.

I did somewhat manage to load one of them in the editor, although it had many red error textures (as my knowledge of lighting is very small ):

And here are a few general screenshots of the new skyboxes as pictures in the game's files:

And credits to TjZ, who isn't on these forums but was the first person to discover them :D
