It seems the day cycle is more smooth now, it doesn't get from dark to light that quick anymore. The transition is a bit off though as it should be way brighter much earlier. Also the day looks much darker now and that is maybe why the transition seems off :?

Also a rest stop is showing as a "parking lot". This is an American term. Please change to something like rest stop or rest area.
The correct term for British English in ETS2 would be "car park" or "car lot"
If no facilities it should be "parking area"

You are correct regarding "car park" or "parking area". "Lot" is not used in this context in British English. I think it should be renamed "rest stop" or "rest area".

@abasstreppas do you use the new SSAO feature? As it adds more shadows, subtle but "everywhere"; the general look of the scene is always a bit darker than if not activated. Maybe that could be the difference you noticed.

But apart of the general look, you are right that it should be brighter sooner, or at least where the sun will be visible sooner. I did a screenshot on Bastia port at the morning and the light was as if just the dawn, with hard shadows and low light; but the sun was completely over the horizon, more than 20 degrees. The problem is that the actual light system doesn't calculate the visibility of the Sun on a given place and hour to decide the amount of light; it just gives it an average ambient light brightness depending on how high is on the horizon. For inland places with obstacles on the horizon, like mountains ranges in the background, the result is good enough. But for low lands near the sea, it isn't.

I think it should be renamed "rest stop" or "rest area".
This will indicate public facilities, eg toilets, dining etc

Regarding the naming of "parking lot" in British English, you can file a report in the English (UK) section of the game localization sub forum.

Scania trucks are the best, but the Peterbilts are good too.
Road signs are just as important as the road itself.

can somebody from SCS explain please the logic of country spawn cars? it seems done in hurry and with no logic behind, following a kind of manufacturing location pattern but still some spawn numbers are completely wrong.
I can enumerate a few examples

Sweden:

Code: Select all

country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.xc90 {
	object: traffic.xc90
	spawn_ratio: 0.00
}
country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.fabia {
	object: traffic.fabia
	spawn_ratio: 5.00
}
country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.golf {
	object: traffic.golf
	spawn_ratio: 6.00
}
country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.seat {
	object: traffic.seat
	spawn_ratio: 6.00
}
why no Volvo XC90 in Sweden??? and why such high numbers for other cars?

Belgium:

Code: Select all

country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.a3 {
	object: traffic.a3
	spawn_ratio: 0.00
}

country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.audi_a6 {
	object: traffic.audi_a6
	spawn_ratio: 0.00
}

country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.xc90 {
	object: traffic.xc90
	spawn_ratio: 0.00
}

country_traffic_info : .country.info.traffic.volvo_xc70 {
	object: traffic.volvo_xc70
	spawn_ratio: 0.00
}
in Belgium there are Audi and Volvo factories and although these produce other models not represented in game, Audi and Volvo are very popular here

also for most of the countries there many spawn_ratio: 0 and I could understand this for some rare cars but Audi A3 and A6, BMW 5 series, Seat, Citroen C4, Peugeot 407, Skoda Octavia, should not miss from any European countries!

@cip this is just a technical problem and, I hope, it will be fixed in nearest future, now SCS continue work with sounds and graphics settings, so traffic behavior and spawn algorithm now not actual in game update.
But I want t say, that "traffic.sii" file is anachronism in game. I remember when SCS add tourliner bus, set spawn_ratio: 0 and forgot to add it in traffic.sii file :lol:, so I think that vehicles define MUST contain where and how often it can spawn and not be in any other locations in game files.
for example

Code: Select all

	accessories[]: .tourliner.chassis
	accessories[]: .tourliner.fwheel
	accessories[]: .tourliner.rwheel

	max_speed: 100

	vehicle_mass: 19700
	engine_power: 324

	sound_move[]: "/sound/traffic/bus_1.soundref"
	sound_horn[]: "/sound/traffic/bus_horn_1.soundref"

	spawn_ratio: 0

	countries[]: "italy|0.5"
	countries[]: "france|0.3"
	countries[]: "germany|1.0"

This code change can take about half hour coding with coffee break :lol: But looks like SCS is too lazy than me. :lol:
