What will ETS2 look like in 3, 8 or 10 years from now on?

@Underscore_101_ They do things "for free" but these contents are already in the price we pay. Releasing France and Italy DLC without their islands and then give them to us for free is just business strategy. They know beforehand they will do this way. They are rebuilding Germany to have a better base game to attract new players and keep old players engaged. We need to stay engaged to buy new contents. It is not wrong what they do. I love this game and the way SCS manages it. :)

To all:
Do you think that might be an ETS3 in the near future?

Why did they launch ETS2 instead of sticking with ETS1?

I understand the concept of getting stuff for free when you're actually paying via some other way, but that doesn't change the reasoning why they won't make a dlc for the UK or the northern parts of Scandinavia,...

They launch ETS2 because the internal workings (the code) of ETS1 required such level of rebuilt to made it future-proof that it was better to made it from scratch. ETS2 base code is way more structured and modular and that allowed them the long-term maintenance and upgrade of the code. It's also something that eases a lot moding, compared with ETS1

Today there's no point into create an ETS3 by several reasons:
- They could probably loose some (if not all) the licenses of the vehicles, needing to re-license them again (even if not the same process, still a pain in the ass).
- The main asset of the game is the map. To redone it for a new version of the game would require an enormous amount of time and money. Or if they reuse the same map than ETS2, there would be not so many incentives to switch to ETS3.
- They will need to stop the development of EST2 to focus on the ETS3 release, hindering their pace of new customers to the player base.
- They could had labeled ETS actually as ETS5, 6 7 or whatever if they had wanted. Label isn't important. The important is that they keep improving their game, sometimes with big changes or additions. Well, in fact, label is important because we don't pay again every year for the same with little changes (coug) Farm Simulator (cough)

So, it could be 2045 and we could still be playing at ETS2, while our grandchildren saying to us that the game we play doesn't resemble to anything they find with that label in the prehistoric archives of Youtube

Regards

PS: And for gazilionesim time, because that's a recurrent topic: THEY ARE NOT going to sell twice the same map (or even a second version of the same zone of the map). Commercially speaking, it's a problem of bad image to their customers. Technically speaking, it will force them to keep and debug two maps of the same places forever; and to be sure that any addition to the map bordering with that place would match BOTH maps. That's a freaking nightmare that nobody on SCS desires even for their worst enemies, not even for their mothers-in-law. That's NOT going to happen. PERIOD. So, no DLC is going to bring us the rework of any map we had already released into the game. They will be done for free or they will never be done.

Regarding Scandinavia, I don't think there is enough for 3 DLCs but rather 2. The northern part is retaher bare compared to the rest of the area.

Making ETS3 would be like wiping our entire society to rebuild it just because it is a little inefficient and there is crime.

3 Years from Know we probaly is still waiting for the last part of germany.

8 Years from now, still waiting for german rebuild last part.

10 Years from now we still wait for german rebuild last part, new gracphics, proper anti alisasing, Man TGX EL3 facelift, seasons, fixing of the trailer clipping through the fenders, proper cargo for the walking floor trailer, rest of Scandinavia, improved Fmod engine sounds.. continue the list..

With other words, no ******* news!

A complete rebuild of the British Isles is an obvious choice
It is isolated, no borders to maintain only ferry routes and the current incomplete map is based on the old UKTS
It is ugly even on sunny day and almost beyond repairable

2024. Ets2 support stopped, 2025-Ets2 converted to Ets3 with seasons, new company and gameplay features. + antialiasing :)

Why does he deserve cake, all he's writing is nonsense, comes across as what someone old and bitter would say
