World Of Trucks

#1 Post by Rodders 61 » 25 Sep 2020 17:55

Hi All,
i got a new pc in February and we got internet at home last Friday. Everything was updated to 1.38 and it looks great, i'm really liking the operable windows amongst other things. Yesterday, i thought i'd look at external contracts and found world of trucks and joined. As i was on a delivery already I just wanted to ask what the external contracts entail?. Are they just deliveries set up by members or do you get more points, etc.
Can anyone fill me in,
Thanks,
Rodders.

Biggest difference for WoT jobs is that they are real time. The hours remaining are normal hours, not game hours.

World of Trucks jobs are:
a) from a separate pool to Freight Market/Quick jobs
b) shared with everyone using WoT (and a job will disappear after a list refresh if someone else takes it)
c) limited to a radius around your current location (in terms of what shows up in the list)
d) operated in the real world space/time continuum rather than the in game one (in terms of job expiry and time to complete - game time still elapses whilst you drive, it just doesn't control whether you are late or not)
e) never urgent or important (because of item d)
f) fungible (inasmuch as you may abandon them at any time without penalty)
g) controlled (the speed limiter is enforced, irrespective of local setting, and a call for service will result in the job being abandoned)
Cheers, Steve

You have a short description on the SCS Software project pages
https://scssoft.com/projects/world-of-trucks

A few notes:
  • External jobs are recorded in the logbook
  • You can earn badges / achievements
  • You can share ingame screenshots
  • Most important all game events are controlled through wotr

Rodders.

External jobs follow the real clock, even if logged out the clock continues and your delivery will expire, and you will receive a late penalty
In case you want to save the game to resume later external jobs is not the best option

@Rodders 61 I steer clear of long jobs on World of Trucks unless I am certain that I have playing time to complete the job in one sitting (or possibly two, if the elapsed time permits real world sleeping in the middle). If I want to do a long distance haul I will tend to choose something from the Freight or Cargo Markets instead.
