It's really disappointing that after 39 updates, the cargo system remains the same, the most important part for me in this game is the loading and unloading experience, and yet with the release of ownable lowboys it remains the same, Like for the one millionth time, who loads a backhoe from a loading bay? and who loads milk from a loading bay? it's a really frustrating experience! and it kills the fun.

And I expect this to stay the same for the foreseeable future. It sucks, but the shortcomings are pretty obvious: the cities we have in game have 5 or 6 companies, sometimes two or three more, while a real city have hundreds. If you were to keep it real, a lot of loads will be rarer than a blue moon. Just another problem of a heavily abridged version of the world. Those fine details are easier done on maps like those made at 1:3 and even 1:1 scale.

you mean 1:3, 3:1 would be the game world 3x the size of the real world

I think it would be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to the cargo system and the possible revamping of the same. We should try to keep the discussion realistic in both terms what's realistic to implement and what's realistic from the real world.

One idea I have to get around the limited amount of prefabs is to use the random event system to add delivery points at various places on the map. At least it will add some diversity to the destinations. ;)

Seriously the problem with the cargo is the easiest thing to fix, we already have the spots for easy parking/unloading in companies prefabs, all they need to do is sort the trailers that aren't suitable for loading from docks and make the default loading spot in the middle of the company I know it's not the most realistic solution but it's better than reversing my lowboy or my container chassis(empty) to a loading dock.

the problem is even with boxed trailers it's not realistic, in some prefabs with loading docks, it forces you o reverse to a black wall or a fence.

In a more realistic setup we would have to compete with other companies :) All job markets except WoTr are unrealistic and gamey in that aspect.

And in what world do drivers get to choose where to unload? At least where there are loading bays it's determined by the recipient's dispatcher.

To chime in with the complaints about funny loads, better don't go to the nuclear plant in Civaux ;)
