Not everyone will use windows 10 some use windows 7 and 8 SCS did say they want the game to be played on new and old pcs of that Generation if I read it somewhere cos then if they put DX12 or Vulkan then half of the community is behind am not complaining I like to see DX12 but SCS needs think first about it’s customers cos not everyone is rich and some actually prefer DX11 cos am liking it too

I wonder what improvements in performance we would see once DX12 is out, the switch made to DX11 last year was a big help for me, for some reason only 40-60% of my GPU was used so I had performance issues, sometimes my GPU usage would drop down to 30% once I enter a more graphically intensive zone, for some reason. DX11 fixed that problem.

Cheers,

No improvement or very little improvemnt unless SCS moves the rendering engine to multicore, I don't see that move anytime soon
Let SCS move the engine to true DX11 first

Thing is not everyone will have DX12 built into there PCs some still have DX11
I really doubt SCS goes DX12. When they reach the point to move to multicore and be able to take profit of the most modern (for the moment) graphic API; there will have sense n o more for them to spent time, efforts and money maintaining code for 2 different API so people in all kind of computers (old and new Win, Mac, Linux) could play. Why to do that nonsense when they can just use Vulkan and have the same results?

I understand triple-A games that have both API as options. Those games run on the edge of what current hardware can run thus people could have better or worse results for their specific rig on one or the other API. And there's also the point of the game be ready to port back and forth to consoles or PC.

But I doubt SCS would require to go that far so even idf in their case DX12 would give better results, if Vulkan gives ones good enough and it simplify their lives to have just 1 API that's what will happen. Eventually. But for the moment, 1.40 is still SCS leveraging what the DX11 allowed them to do. And there will arrive a lot more changes before the DX11 path will be exhausted.

Regards

Vulkan only could be a bold move by SCS, Vulkan would even support DX9 hardware
