Go back to 1.39 if you are not happy or create a bug report
I do believe SCS is aware of the issue and will try to resolve it if possible

Did you guys talk about this in here, during long open beta?

You mentioned that you're in France. I recall several versions ago (I think it was like 1.33 or 1.34) where there was a bug where the traffic in France didn't turn their headlights on at all when it was raining during the daytime. Could it be that this bug is still happening?

Nope, in 1.40 headlights can't be seen on environment obejct (fences, road, bushes etc) during heavy rain

Re: ETS2 1.40 discussion
It's the way the new lighting works. Take it or leave it. Coincidentally, that's also what SCS response on this issue boils down to. They will continue to tweak things going forward. Whatever that means. Historically that didn't amount to much, but who knows. Right now this is the price we have to pay for what ultimately is a major improvement, which makes this a particularly bitter pill.
Re: ETS2 1.40 discussion
I wouldn't call it a major, but slight improvement. There isn't much difference in lighting during the day when we compare it to 1.39 (there is a bunch of comparisons on YT), but everyone has its own eyes. Only sunset and sunrise are really different imho.
Just a thought: complaint won't change anything, SCS is doing what they want with their games. We, as players - have one significant choice: play it or not. The day will come for sure when most of us will say: "It's time to move forward, and play something else. 10 yrs is enough"...

Re: ETS2 1.40 discussion
this will never happen, as long as SCS kicks out updates and the game is supported people while play it simply because the part that plays the game for the sake of playing it is bigger then the part that plays it for the sake of complaining
