ETS2 1.40 Open Beta discussion
Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta discussion
It kills the experience IMO... a totally dark night, nah... no bueno.
Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta discussion
I'll give it a try but it does sound pretty 'muh immersiun' breaking. I find it hard to believe this issue with fps tanking on red light stops is unsolvable since it doesn't seem to be pushing the GPU, nor CPU at all. I experience similar drops when passing stationary police cars/fire trucks, which explodes the reflections with different colors. It just doesn't seem to be using the available computing power.

It is, it’s milking that single thread for all its worth.

Yeah the secondary vehicle lights cause a lot of performance loss whether it's day or nighttime. Probably because of the magic and calculations running in the background. No doubt it increases the immersion a lot, but it definitely isn't meant for weaker machines.

Right, I've completely forgot it's single thread :/

You are supposed to signal left if you're going to use the 3rd or 4th exit. If you go to the right using the first exist or straight ahead using the 2nd exit, you only have to signal right when leaving the roundabout. That's what the law dictates. Reason behind this is to let the guy who wants to enter the roundabout know what you're going to do.
Most driving schools have their own interpretations of the law which is unfortunate, that's why the whole debate. But the law is actually pretty clear and simple.

Re: ETS2 1.40 Open Beta discussion
Given the amount of changes it would require it's not worth the effort right now. If they still plan to rebuild the UK it would make more sense waiting and doing it as part of that update, however, the UK-EU are still in talks about borders. Just because no deal was reached with the end of Brexit doesn't mean one won't be worked out in future.
Adding border control right now could end up being a waste of time if a year from now we end up back in the EEA and/or EFTA. There's more important things they could spend their time on.

I reserve the right to be 100% wrong.
But on my tombstone when I go, just put 'death by rock and roll'.

I made a quick performance test between 1.39 and 1.40beta (tripple screen @ 7680x1440). Performance lost in avg. framerates with headlights on is about 20% compared to 1.39.
