[FORUM GAME] Where is this?

#1 Post by krmarci » 20 Feb 2021 18:25

How to Play:
  • A user posts a screenshot from the Euro Truck Simulator 2 game world.
  • Players will have unlimited opportunities to guess the location until someone guesses it correctly.
  • When guessing a location, try to be as specific as possible. Use specific names such as road names, city names, company names, and landmarks.
  • You may consult Google Maps or similar real-world mapping tools to help you. Within the first 24 hours from when a location has been posted, you may not look for it in-game (or on the Truck Simulator Wiki). After 24 hours are up, you may begin to use in-game resources (as well as the Truck Simulator Wiki) to help you. You are on the honor system; we simply want to trust you to play correctly.
  • The player who guesses the location correctly will provide the next screenshot location.
  • When picking a location, don't make it too obvious, but don't make it too difficult either. Try to have something unique in the screenshot. While you can choose a location within an official DLC, DO NOT use map scenery from map mods.
  • As other players are guessing, the poster of the screenshot location may provide hints and feedback. Be sure that the hints are not too obvious though.
  • After 72 hours* have elapsed since the screenshot has been posted without anyone guessing the location correctly, the poster of the screenshot must reveal the answer.
  • If nobody guesses the location correctly before time is up, then anyone is free to post the next screenshot location.
  • If the user who guessed the previous answer correctly does not post a new screenshot location within 72 hours* of being confirmed as the correct answer, then anyone is free to post the next screenshot location.
*72 hours is three days.

Note: This topic will fall under the description of a "screenshots thread" for forum rule 2.10. Please use an external image hosting service rather than the forum's attachment feature to post your screenshots.

Players who abuse the game will be asked not to participate and may be subject to moderator action depending on the severity of the issue. Have fun playing!

Rules copied and slightly altered from the ATS thread.

@leo.arevalo12ss Correct, but be more precise.

EDIT: You may now look for it in the game as well.

This seems to be Burg Gleichen, along the A4 just (south-)west of Erfurt, Germany.

Sorry for the somewhat low quality, but my PC isn't great and I couldn't find the uploaded screenshot on my WoT page, so I had to take some detours ;) in order to get it.

Good luck!

From the looks, it's definitely old base map/Going East content. There is also a portion of a sign in the upper left corner that someone might be able to connect to a country.
I would guess Belgium or Netherlands (which your location seems to support...). The houses in the background also look more Western European.

The windmill actually reminds me of an old screenshot pre VlF release. One of the Tour de France routes. Can it be France?

Definetly not France as, the road markings don't match up. (In France the line near the hard shoulder isn't continous). Neither Holland as the signs pillars are triangle shaped there. Actually by the looks of that visible portion of the sign my first instinct was Hungary but I'm really not sure. Could also be Belgium maybe. I don't really remember how these areas looked in vanilla. (Been using Promods since '13)

Anyway my wild guess is that it's somewhere on the M6 in Hungary between Budapest and Pécs :? :?:
