Running ETS2 / ATS on 34“ ultrawide 144hz

#1 Post by skyy-v8 » 22 Apr 2021 16:17

Hi guys ,

Do some of you may playing on 21:9 ultrawide 144hz monitors?

I want to buy the iiyama 3466 curved for an immersive upgrade but am afraid of the flickering some people describe with the VA panels :? :?

How are our favourite games performing on that kind of monitors?

Reviews of you guys are very appreciate and may help to take a decision whether to buy or not :)

You won't see any flickering with your eyes. I used to have 21:9 monitor, ets2 has great support for ultrawide. I have sold the monitor 3 months later as it is not worth and got back to good old 16:9 imo it because it lacks support in video games I play unless if you don't care about black bars, and you need to have quite good pc to handle that resolution and achieve 144fps to see 144hz magic.

Did you buy the monitor? I wonder if my 1660 can handle 3440x1440 or if I have to pick a 3840x1080 instead.

Results after driving with 5760x1080 on 3 1920x1080 monitors are dim @ ~20-30 fps. But not sure how much performance is lost when physx whips the nvidia surround. Maybe a single big monitor would fare better than nvidia hacking 3 together.

Cheaper for me to buy a big monitor than upgrading my system at the moment. Can't even buy GPUs in Norway at the moment because of covid and bitcoin and I dunno, the market is totally empty. Have to buy an entire computer if you want a good GPU like 3060ti or 3070 right now.

I don't recomend you running with 1660 that gpu is good for 1080p gaming, i mean it could handle it but you will never achive 144 fps for 144hz, if you don't care about hz get 60hz or 75hz monitor for cheaper price or wait for gpu-s to restock. You already have a big fps lost on triple monitors.

I have a Samsung Odissey 34" and a 1660 6gb ram and is working fine. I have 60-125 FPS on different locations in maps. I use Nvidia profile settings not scalling.

For FPS as high as 144 and the requested resolution I don't think any GPU is up to the task
3090 ti runs a fairly steady 120 FPS in 4K ultrawide

I have no interest in 144 fps, never mentioned that. My 3 monitors are 75hz but I'm happy if I can get 60fps steady.

Currently looking at a i5 10400f with 3060ti computer, it should be able to handle my 5760x1080 fairly well I think.

The games runs on single core mostly, I doubt an i5 10400f with a clock speed of ~ 3 Ghz can do the trick, the 3060 GPU will just sit idle and do little work

That's why 144hz monitor in my opinion is waste of money if you are not in competative games.

Guys I have the new 11700k and a rtx 3060 so rocking ETS2 at the moment. It should handle 34” 3440 * 1440p very well with gsync...

Just curious about some experiences of 34” ultrawide in SCS games and the flickering issues often described in other forums with 34” 144hz VA panels 🤔
