I bought a TrackIR 5 in 2009, for ETS 1. I never want to drive without it, ever since. I think it is overpriced in way, if you look at the hardware. But as I couldn't live without it, I was happy I bought it. I didn't even hesitated a moment, to buy a new one, when the first one got toasted. Maybe six or seven years ago.

I never tried the free webcam alterternaives, available some years ago. But if the device would die again, I would at least give this approach a short try, at least: viewtopic.php?f=178&t=294338#p1487864

As I always had a very good solution, I never bought a Tobi. No opinion about it.

I've been using a "Smartphone with gyroscope + Opentrack" for a few weeks, it works perfectly, there is no lag, not need a Webcam, not need to have the lights on... just look for some way to place your smartphone anchored to the headphones or a cap.

Can't compare them, but I've been happy with the Tobii 4c.

What made me decide for the Tobii is that there's nothing on your head, no clips and/or a hat with stuff and/or cables.

I've used it on a much larger than recommended 43" screen, but only for ETS2/ATS, not for windows features and it worked the same as on a 27" monitor.
