One thing is to download stuff which does not change your game only for current session another thing are mods which can have undesired side effects for your setup

There might be a warning or servers are grayed out, but there will be no download automatism. SCS’ way to deal with DLC files kinda shows what they have in mind for mods.

Re: ETS2 1.41 discussion
first step would be to integrate replacement mod support anyway then they can start to break their heads about replacement mods and the even bigger issue when people have 2 different mods for the same thing like trucks

I wouldn't be surprised if the system works exactly like the currently one for DLC. You'll need to have it on the PC to see it, but don't actually have to have it enabled in the mod manager so it doesn't affect your game save in any way, it's just a visual thing.

Re: ETS2 1.41 discussion
Depends on the mods they allow really. Most truck/trailer mods don't require any sort of mod order these days and they will be the more common ones.
Map mods that's where issues arise. I think in cases like that, and weather mods, it might end up being a case they decide not to allow them. They said they'd look into mods, they never said all mods will be supported. I expect limitations.

Re: ETS2 1.41 discussion
We can talk about "weather mods" or "map mods" but at the end their restrictions that could happen will depend on which objects of the game any mod would want to change.
And we all know how some modders have the nasty habit to have remnants left in their mods affecting things completely unrelated to the main announced purpose of the mod.
It's going to be funny when they finally open that door.

Re: ETS2 1.41 discussion
I can honestly see it being restricted to things you put on or in your truck/trailers and only workshop mods.

Re: ETS2 1.41 discussion
Honestly I disagree. I would rather they use workshop than not. Workshop forces you to make sure your mods are clean and tidy of most things that shouldn't be there or the uploader will refuse to upload. Offline mods can be full of junk.
