Re: New DAF arrived on Euro Truck Simulator 2
I actually like conventional mirrors, the gap between them really adds to overall visibility (it's kinda strange and nice to see the RL feature is useful in the game). I've built the XG according to the promo photos with side mirrors and the corner camera, made a couple of deliveries and it was quite easy and comfortable. Still waiting for that door window though.
And of course there should be a proper way of telling the remaining fuel, not the tiny digit at the bottom of the screen. I believe the real display has optional indication with one of those blue bars (if I'm not mistaken).

Re: New DAF arrived on Euro Truck Simulator 2
I took the new DAF for a spin and while I think it's definitely a contender for the best truck in the game now, it just isn't quite enough to overtake my beloved Renault T. It's probably mostly because of my personal preference and the fact that I've spent the last two years driving it, as the new DAF is really well made and I'm interested to see the customization options that are added for it. Well done Oscar and the rest of the team!

Toll booth countries absolutely ruin your fuel economy, because you spend way more of each trip accelerating out of a toll booth than you would in real life. It's not just that you may have to slow down and then accelerate again fifteen times or so crossing France, which is 900 km/h worth of acceleration; part of that acceleration also happens in accelerated time.abasstreppas wrote: ↑15 Jun 2021 15:04 Haven't read the whole thread so excuse me if it has been discussed already. To me it seems the new DAF takes a lot of diesel. I'm using the MX-13 355 and have something like 3000+ km on the clock and my average consumption is ~37 l/100 km, mainly driving in Spain. Average cargo weight is probably 18-20 ton. My Scania NG R500 uses slightly over 30 l/100 km
Also, I posted the math for the provided drivetrains a little while back, the gist of it is that the 12-speed overdrive gearbox option is for the MX11 engine or a lowdeck chassis with tiny tires, don't use it with standard tires and the MX13 engines unless you're driving manually, as at 80 km/h (which is where you'll be running it in half of Europe unless you're a habitual speeder) you're going to be stuck in 11th gear as 12th is too high.
The 12-speed direct drive gearbox is much better for the MX13 + 315/70 combination, and the 16 speed gearbox is better for 315/80 tires.

With today's update, the drivetrain options for DAF XG/XG+ also seem to have been modified correctly. (Up to 2,700 Nm)

I haven't found if anyone else has noticed this too, but to me the truck seems a little too empty under the cabin from the external view, is it possible? If it's not just me I hope SCS will further finish the model
physics.scs --> "bristle_stiffness_longitudinal_factor: 5.0" for throttle/brake responsiveness

Re: New DAF arrived on Euro Truck Simulator 2
I must say, there's something that doesn't convince me… I cannot understand what is it. I drove the XG+ model in a short haul in central Europe within a quick job, and I actually do not really dislike it, but still, something seems out of place to me. Waiting for Window Flags DLC to be attached, and some kinda customization, so that perhaps I will change my mind in the future. I cannot really understand what's "wrong", for once… How strange!

well you'll have to wait for it to update once sept comes, should be good to go crazy on customization
Re: New DAF arrived on Euro Truck Simulator 2
I like it! Although the rev counter is very easy to miss shoved down in the bottom of the dash and the fact that the engine is so quiet means that I've forgot to upshift a few times.
Maybe I should get with the times and just use realistic auto, but then this game is so undemanding I don't wanna make it easier!
Just one thing are these ones basically the model equivalent to the previous gen CF? So eventually there will be like a full XF Model with all the chassis?

Re: New DAF arrived on Euro Truck Simulator 2
There's nothing wrong, nothing needs to be wrong to like or dislike something. We all have our personal tastes, even some that we can't just explain with words.
If you end not liking that truck, hopefully you will have more luck with the next one.
The good about this truck, wether we like it or not, is that the way it has been released into the game makes to be sooner the moment we had not to worry IF they are going to have certain license. The moment we will only to worry when they will have the time to model the new truck released into the market. That's the big deal with the last trucks SCS is releasing. We will remember that DAF launch as a "before and after" moment.
