The fuel tank on the XG 4x2 is the second biggest fuel tank in the game (Renault 4x2 Extra Tank has an extra 10 liters over this one), and it ran at around 32 liters/100 km on the freeways for me on average. Maybe a little less I was experimenting with a few things along the way. So yeah, the range on this thing is *monstrous*.
OK, so having some fun with a gear ratio/tire dimension calculator:harishw8r wrote: ↑12 Jun 2021 18:12 Thanks to cruise control! From my side also I tried my level best to reduce braking.
The overdrive gearbox shifts to top gear at 87 km/h So whenever I’m cruising at 80, I shift to manual. There’s no no significant torque loss though. That saves a little bit of fuel.
Also, I can’t appreciate more about the proper seat positioning and the unmatched visibility the truck offers.
With the overdrive 12-speed, you have a 0.77 top gear, and a 3.08 differential.
Using 315/80 drive tires (1095 mm diameter), you need 920 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1030 for 90 km/h.
Using 315/70 drive tires (1032 mm diameter), you need 970 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1100 for 90 km/h.
Using 295/60 drive tires (926 mm diameter), you need 1090 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1220 for 90 km/h.
Incidentally, 80 km/h in 11th gear on 315/70 tires (1.00 gear) requires 1270 rpm.
With the direct drive 12-speed, you have a 1.00 top gear and a 2.64 differential.
Using 315/70 drive tires (1032 mm diameter), you need 1090 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1220 for 90 km/h.
Using 295/60 drive tires (926 mm diameter), you need 1210 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1360 for 90 km/h.
Using 315/80 drive tires (1095 mm diameter), you need 1020 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1150 for 90 km/h.
With the overdrive 16-speed, you have a 0.82 top gear, and a 3.40 differential.
Using 315/80 drive tires (1095 mm diameter), you need 1080 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1210 for 90 km/h
Using 315/70 drive tires (1032 mm diameter), you need 1140 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1290 for 90 km/h
Using 295/60 drive tires (926 mm diameter), you need 1270 rpm for 80 km/h, and 1450 for 90 km/h.
For optimum efficiency here, you want the large 315/80 tires.
The top engine (MX13 390) will downshift at 1000 rpm if the gearbox is in auto mode, not sure about the other MX13 because its def doesn't say when it downshifts, and the top MX11 (the 449 hp one) will downshift at 900.
The conclusion I draw:
With only 315/70 tires available (i.e. no mods or DLC), use the MX11 with the overdrive 12-speed, and the MX13 with the direct drive 12-speed. Don't bother with the 16-speed.
If you have the Michelin DLC, which adds bigger tires, you can use them with the 16-speed box.
Don't use the overdrive 12-speed with the MX13 unless you either have a mod with lowdeck tires, or are prepared to keep it in 12th gear manually.
