ETS2 Windows Support
Re: ETS2 Windows Support
for me it was easier to simply disable the ports instead of opening the case and deal with the cables
after installing i just re-enabled the ports so i could pull my backup from the old array

Re: ETS2 Windows Support
i unplug my other drives always when reinstalling Windows, just in case, i dont trust myself not to choose the wrong drive and delete important data
also, to install Windows in UEFI you have to boot in UEFI, normally when you have a bootable USB (just copy the .iso content onto a drive) it should show up twice, once as normal and once ans EFI/UEFI boot, dont know if the legacy setting in BIOS changes that or not

Re: ETS2 Windows Support
It was something between UEFI not liking to see an install attempt while having another install detected and invalidating the process giving me an error while selecting the clean GPT partition saying it was not possible to use the drive or something like that if my memory serves me right.
Re: ETS2 Windows Support
i guess for those of us still with win7 we could play in opengl mode then.. or scs leaves the dx11 mode in as well.. ets2 isnt a windows only game.. its linux to.. and linux doesnt have dx12..

Re: ETS2 Windows Support
Nor does MacOS. So you think they’ll recommend Win7 users to play on Linux once DX12 is in the game?
Anyway I think it’s still a long time until then.

It doesn't matter how many OS can you have installed in your computer (in one hard drive or spread in several); there MUST be a single boot loader partition to which the BIOS (UEFI or Legacy) is going to transfer the control once the startup part made by the BIOS routines are over.Tarso wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021 16:16It was something between UEFI not liking to see an install attempt while having another install detected and invalidating the process giving me an error while selecting the clean GPT partition saying it was not possible to use the drive or something like that if my memory serves me right.
If you had already one OS installed, that boot loader was already there. Then, two things can happen:
- It was a boot manager of an older OS version that should be replaced in order to understand the newer OS he can't recognize, but the change in its code can't be made by the installer of the new Windows (10 I suppose) because the disk where the boot loader was wasn't GPT (a requisite for the new installation).
- Or the boot loader was protected someway by a Secure Boot configuration in UEFI BIOS that prevented its tampering (not really sure about that because I plainly always disable that su**** pile of crap of Secure Boot).
And about what @Bandit & The Snowman says; of course not, SCS isn't going to tell Win7 users to switch to Linux. They could perfectly say them: now you will have to play in OpenGL, as always had been available for Windows users. I'm still confident that eventually they will dump that too and release Vulkan code; their jobs offers include mentions of searching programmers for that. But it seems that, for whatever reason, they are interested also into keep the DX branch instead of just merge everything into just an universal Vulkan one.

If anything, Win7 users will be advised to switch to Win10. Like it or not, it's a legacy OS now.

Re: ETS2 Windows Support
I was thinking “if you don’t want to upgrade your Windows, you’ll have to use Linux”. And by the time we get DX12, Windows 12 or 13 will be out
Re: ETS2 Windows Support
They can't leave DX if they want to expand to console market (Xbox uses it).
In fact, DirectX 12 Ultimate unifies game developments for Xbox Series X and PC.

Have you forgotten Vulkan?
