ETS2 1.42 discussion thread
Re: ETS2 1.42 discussion thread
@ Some newbie driver
Thank you,
After reading this it is a lot clearer to me what exactly is going on.
If only I had understood this sooner...
I only use FanaLeds and then only for the LED lights of the G29 (RPM).
I don't think it has any influence on the FFB, but well Fanaleds is responsible for the only error in my game.log
00:00:05.875 : loading 'FanaLEDsPluginETS2_x64' 'D:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Euro Truck Simulator 2/bin/win_x64/plugins/FanaLEDsPluginETS2_x64.dll'
00:00:11.965 : <ERROR> [sdk] prism::sdk::telemetry_register_for_channel: type 1 is not supported by channel 'truck.cruise_control' index 4294967295
00:00:11.965 : Initializing FanaLEDs plugin
No physics mods in use, and that will never happen.
Thanks again for the clarification.

No... Just adjust the settings within the Software and the game until you find the perfect setting. I know people with Driving Force GT who have made it and are playing at 1.42 with the new force feedback system.
ATS and ETS2 is Hella nice!

Re: ETS2 1.42 discussion thread
Wow, the new FFB in 1.42 is a great improvement, overall speaking. I just drove a short distance and have to dial it in still, but overall I think it feels way more like a real 'car' (have not driven in a truck IRL, but have driven many cars and vans IRL). The centering when coming out of a corner has a bit of a funky "deadzone" (like many have reported), so that could be improved or maybe this will be less pronounced after fiddling with the settings. And on a side note, I absolutely love the new 2520 degrees of rotation animation, so I can match this nicely with my CSL DD. Before I stuck with 900 degrees, since I cannot stand it when the screen does not match my steering wheel.
Hopefully this will be the first iteration of the overhaul of the FFB. Looking forward to more physics based FFB for other effects, like engine vibration, wheel slip, terrain/bumps etc.
EDIT
After doing a couple of deliveries and fiddling with the settings, It's still thumbs up from me for sure.
I settled with only adjusting the overall gain and internal friction to about 3/4 of the slider (default is center = 1/2). Tried upping the engine resonance (default = 0), but found it to be rather rubbish. I would recommend keeping this off.
I found the "deadzone" in the centering when coming out of a corner much more pronounced in ATS (Mack) than ETS2 (Scania). In ETS2 is was barely noticeable to me. Haven't tried other trucks yet, so maybe it differs from truck to truck (and load to load - which would make sense, if it really is physics based).
The 2520 degrees of steering is super smooth on the CSL DD, which is only an entry level direct drive wheelbase, much better than what is was before with the old FFB engine. Also when turning the wheel while standing still, you get this nice subtle "wobble" when you let go, just like it feels IRL in a car where you feel the friction of the tyres with the ground.

System specs: Ryzen 5800X3D, RTX3080 (no OC), Varjo Aero (using OpenXR through OpenComposite instead of SteamVR), 32 GB DDR3200, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB, Win10. And most importantly: vanilla game, no mods.

I love the 2520 degrees as well. It makes turning look so much better. It doesn’t work with my G27 but with my gamepad. Cruising at highway speed finally looks realistic as far as the steering wheel is concerned.
