Re: DAF 2021
There are also rumors of new DAF engine which I think, I may have already mentioned here somewhere that they might be working on it, since to me its weird that they make the biggest cab on the market right now, and stuck with 530 hp, now I know that's enough for normal cargo, but remember some countries still use higher powered engines + higher weight limits, who knows a 15 liter Paccar powerplant ?? 610-630 hp might be doable, or maybe just maybe a Cummins x15 rebadge which kind of doesn't make sense, since the newly reworked Paccar engine has 2550 nm and 2700 in top gear, and the currently strongest Cummins x15 605 has 75 hp more but only about 79 nm more torque than the DAF in top gear, plus its a lot heavier than the current Paccar engines, my guess is that Paccar probably did a new engine themselves since the Cummins rebadge kind of does not make sense.
They already spent a load of money on re-engineering the older engines whos to say they don't have a new one in the works...

Re: DAF 2021
Yes, That Paccar 15 is possibly a rebadged cummins X15 with some tweaks!(based on rumors), or it could an entirely new engine!

Re: DAF 2021
i doubt they will rebadge the engines, cummins doesnt do anything in Europe and if they add a new bigger engine it also has to conform to EU regulations for DAF to use, so it will be a own development or a further development of the MX13 engine

Re: DAF 2021
Eh further development of the mx13 don't think so everything over 580 hp might be pushing it, since its just a 12.9L

Re: DAF 2021
with further development i mean to make it bigger but basing it on the MX13 development, i bet there is room to get further 2 to 3l volume out of it to make it more powerfull

Re: DAF 2021
Oh yea gotcha. Guess they could do that, doubt it tho since the chassis and truck is all new, but then again they probably would save some money from further developing the mx13 as you said.
Re: DAF 2021
I checked out the DAF website, and have viewed a couple of brochures on the next generation models. In terms of tractor chassis offerings, I have only seen 4x2 and 6x2 mentioned.
I understand that 6x4 is not needed for most over-the-road trucking applications in Europe, but I am curious if 1) DAF is not offering 6x4 next gen tractors or 2) DAF 6x4 next gen tractors are available only through special orders or very specific markets.

Re: DAF 2021
The brochures show only what's currently on production already or very imminent to start in. Other kind of chassis will have to wait further or will be served with the last works from the previous model production line. And considering the mess with the global logistics; that scenario could take longer than previously expected by manufacturers.
I know for sure that every new week, vehicle manufacturers aren't doing nothing but to cancel more part orders than the previous one. The amount of cancelled vehicles production is enormous; when it doesn't lack one part it does lack another. The whole vehicle manufacturing industry worldwide was working on a just-in-time no-stock scenario that has been completely devastated by the disruption of the logistic chain. Parts manufacturers which I directly known and have contact had told me they haven't worked so less not even in the worst moments of the 2008 subprime global crisis.
Their only relief is to know that, once vehicles could be manufactured, they will be people wanting to purchase them. But if this situation takes too long to be fixed and starts to create a new demand crisis (now its just a production crisis); then things are going to look very bad in the whole sector. And the most optimistic voices in the chip industry have already said their part of the problem is going to last until 2023 the sooner.

In the Netherlands there's already a couple of rigids driving around for quite a while. Mainfreight (Wim Bosman) 'S Heerenberg had the camouflaged one. And I've seen some more but can't remember the companies now.AntonioMart wrote: ↑24 Oct 2021 22:20One rigid already done and currently undergoing a test drive in Spain:
XG and XG+ tractors is already becoming quite normal to see.
The XF and I think new CF are still driving around with the black plastic on them.

Some of the XG's are still owned by Daf though, like the ones from Hartog & Bikker, they sure look nice irl though, saw one of them 3 days in a row on my way to work 2 weeks ago hauling a Heineken trailer.
