2031, dystopian future. (Meta)Facebook has taken control of all the major truck hauling companies and replaced drivers with their flamboyant autonomous trucks partnering with Tesla. Around same time, using lots of middlemen to avoid suspicions, they took control also of SCS using shady tricks. People don't know why, but players of the game had been mysteriously disappearing. Those who remain had to suffer the ban of any noisy engine, even moded ones, as per specific order issued by Elon Musk. In the meantime, those autonomous (Meta)Facebook trucks drive... suspiciously well.

Well, look M$ how many times "experts" foresaw their disappearance because "the world and market" have changed. Also, it's proved that it's almost impossible to get rid of drug dealers; and those two companies are some of the biggest providers of very dangerous but legal drugs that exist today.

I predict we will have a new Euro Truck game by 2025.

We basically have 3 more big DLC left in Euro Truck 2 (Russia, Balkans, Ukraine) before it moves into areas that are either smaller or not strictly in Europe.

At that point SCS will have 2 options to either rename it (Eurasia Truck Simulator?), or start over with a new map on maybe something like a 1:15 scale, to enable new game features to be added that the current map infrastructure simply cannot provide.
