Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
savegame and the quickjob truck files had a wear indicator to show how much wear the parts have, with start of the open beta those were obsolete, so SCS did change something in the system

Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
Many more new names have been added to mileage_targets.sii across many different countries. Many of them are the same deal as the earlier Polish ones: they correspond to existing border crossings. But some are the names of scenic or inaccessible cities that already appear on in-game signs (e.g. Montana in Bulgaria, Drammen in Norway, Benidorm in Spain).
Looks like we really might be getting distance signs soon

Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
@IvanKuz Are there any in Hungary?
Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
Nope, sorry, nothing in unreworked base map or Going East countries aside from Polish border crossings for some reason.

Probably because its a one-man-only task and with the size of the map, we see how's the progress through it. Slowly, steady and done in chunks.
Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
And I think also because these old areas simply don't have scenic and inaccessible cities or other counties mentioned on signs, unlike Scandinavia, VLF and so forth.

Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
Well, I've seen lots of those non-existant places signed in Germany, several near Netherlands for example. I don't remember you saying about fining any data about those places.
Also old parts of the map have their share of "ghost towns"; back in time they didn't name them because they know they weren't anything near IRL. But they can decide now "this will be X town", signal it on the mileage and made a lifting later when the moment arrives.

I am not sure I understand your point here. But yes, current (post-rework) Germany has many "non-existent" cities like Bonn appearing on direction signs, just like in new DLCs. But I am going to guess you didn't see them before the rework, because I'm pretty sure the practice of putting inaccessible cities on signs only began with Scandinavia. Before that, at best you'd get signs that had red XXXXs instead of city names.
As for these "non-existent" cities being listed in mileage_targets.sii, Germany has just one so far: Lubeck. But then, every country only got a few. For example, Spain only got Ourense, Benidorm, Tordesillas and La Jonquera. Bulgaria only got Montana and Vidin. Norway got Drammen and Larvik. I'm sure many more will come though.

Re: ETS2 1.43 open beta discussion
Probably I didn't explained me well. Never mind.
But agree, files will keep growing and showing more mileage data for other places. I don't even think we will see those signals placed in this update; as per your reports of places included in there, there's still a lot of work to be done.
In the meantime, now I'm more intrigued with that change in the wear they are doing in the background. I don't want to be too optimistic, but certainly, a more realistic approach to truck wear and maintenance would be very appreciated. And is one of those things that they can change now without so many "big fancy updates" on the core engine because it's not a matter of CPU workload.
Regards
