Thanks for the heads up n4gix, I already know a possible reason as to what may have gone wrong but it's not important. Let's just say it shouldn't happen under normal ETS 2 Studio usage.

As for your tip with 7-zip, I do the same but with WinRAR and i want to point out that we should at some point have this in E2S that will do this for you automatically.
So you create your truck skin and then you can re-open the same truck skin and have E2S automatically update it if you change the texture with your image editing software.

One last note, if you change the base color or other non texture related details on a certain mod you have to go to the in game paint shop and switch to a different paint and back. (Only clicking required, no purchase)
Once you have done this the game should have updated the definitions in the save itself (because the game seems to store certain details in the save) and your new colors should show up both in the workshop and outside.

I noticed this as i was helping Swede with his skin issues.

We are looking for another programmer

While me and WerewolfCustoms are working hard day to day to reach the next release of ETS 2 Studio we are just two guys who are doing this on the spare time we have available to us. This of course means we can only ever work so much on the application and all the things that revolve around it. (Because this is just one part of a much greater project with quite a few guys working on it together.)

So out of need and wishes to have another nice fella in our group to code together with, we have a slot open for anyone that can provide assistance with programming.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a mature person (age, gender, location is of little concern to us) that knows the C# language well. Who is able to speak and write in English and who isn't afraid of making new friends.
We will be keeping contact over Skype and separate forums and we will be utilizing TeamViewer from time to time to work in tandem or show issues/techniques that are of relevance to the project.
You will need Visual Studio 2013 (the express version is fine but may fall short in certain areas) and you will need a Microsoft account since we are using TFS to work on the project.

Your skills in programming doesn't need to be top grade but to be able to understand what we are doing you still need some experience or you will be lost most of the time when looking at our code and we do need good code written should you provide such.
Both me and WerewolfCustoms are self taught programmers who learned to program due to our love for programming. So we aren't looking for educated programmers, we are looking for good programmers. (For whatever that is worth)

There are no time schedules to keep, you do as much or as little work as you want to do. We don't hold you responsible for finishing something in a certain time frame, we are all doing this on our spare time when we want to. We do of course want to do as much as we possibly can when we have the time to spare.
If you don't have much time then don't worry about it, we are looking for any help we can get no matter how big or small.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who enjoys programming and wants to learn, share and even teach others new techniques. And someone who is willing to be a good friend, share a laugh and works well with other people. We are a team... No we are more than a team, we are good friends who have a passion for programming and the modding community!

How to apply

If what has been written already matches your description then we would love to hear from you!
You can send me (Cadde) or WerewolfCustoms a PM and we will get you introduced and get a feel for you as both a person and a programmer.
Fear not, we are nice guys and we will treat you with respect at all times.

We will of course want to see examples of your own code so we can get a grasp on how much experience you have and we will ask questions to get to know you better.

Some questions and answers, ahead of time

Q: "Will i get paid?"
A: "Sorry but no, we are doing this free of charge for the benefits of the community. We cannot afford to hire someone nor would we want to, we do this to grow ourselves and because it's FUN."

Q: "Will i be credited? How will i be mentioned?"
A: "Of course you will, even if you designed a single tool you will be credited equally to the rest of us. We are all of equal worth irregardless of how much we have contributed."

Q: "Do you have a leadership/chain of command structure?"
A: "WerewolfCustoms is the original author of ETS 2 Studio and holds a team lead position but beyond that formality we are all equals in position and stature. We don't issue orders, we all agree on what should be done and even so, we expect each other to be self sufficient and come up with new ideas and code on our own."

Q: "I heard there are donations to the project, what are those for?"
A: "They will be used for the longevity of the project. Such as paying for server space and possibly a few cups of coffee for those who need it. We are not doing this for the money, we are merely using donations as a means to an end. To enable us to expand the project further."

Q: "What if i don't dare to show my code, i am afraid it won't be up to par."
A: "We are not judgmental, if your code shows promise then we will give you the necessary details to make it fit with ours. We all have our strong and weak points. I have seen it all already so i will not be shocked."

...

Any other questions will be handled in PM and Skype conversations as needed.

I really can't tell silver, I have never seen this problem crop up in all of my years developing C# applications or any other language for that matter.

It sounds like your system has missing fonts.

I used to be good at drawing when i was younger, should harness that and learn to make skins atleast, i know and feel I'd looove that!

I have tried and getting started by your self is really hard :<

It's never too late to learn murdoch. It's just a matter of having an hour or two to spare on weekends to learn the basics and you will be well on your way to becoming a good programmer or a good skin maker or a good modeler. That depends on what it is you want to learn the most.

I could teach you some basics in C#, the easiest language to learn IMHO. Thanks to the countless information in existence on it and the really powerful Visual Studio development platform.

I got every day, all day to do shit, but I just dont have the energy to do it.. :P

I just put some tea water on, and its highly likely I'll have to put the damn boiler on again because I cant be arsed to get my ass out of my chair to get my tea. ^^

The only thing missing here is perhaps abit of illegal substances or some alcoholic beverages of some kind and I'd be complete!
Luckily I dont like any of that stuff. :D - Dont do drugs or alcohol kids!! They are bad!

I installed gimp and the scs plugin and all that some week or two ago to try and make my own skin but I just give up, get exhausted, cant find energy to figure it out. :P

I've been playing around with computers for 20+ years now and I know nothing, I can build a system, install operating systems, fix such things and find faults with hardware, understand how to build good gaming computer. But thats easy stuff, makes sense, I can apply some logic to it and figure it out, read or watch any youtube channel about hardware and you're an expert in a few weeks, its not complicated. But sit down with a book and learn a new programming language, or try to figure out all the magic in Photoshop or gimp, damn, thats exhausting...tried to learn blender a few years ago. Tried to make a model of a Saab 95 2 stroke wagon... haha Let me tell you, did not take long before I messed it up and gave up.. :P

I used to run Linux alot and even that I never really learned fully, I know my way around and understand the basics but not much else. I just cant bring my self to push through to the point where things start to make real sense. ;P

And now since Windwos 7 and 8.1 has become so good I havent been able to bring my self to mess with it. I did have a virtual machine to run a Minecraft server on but thats it... Thankfully Windows 8.1 comes complete with its own software for that kind of stuff :D

Guys

I found one thing with the chemical trailer made with the tool and I think (not checked yet) it's the same for the fuel cistern as well.
Now, the thing: In game parked trailers don't use the detailed model and a vanilla game's bug (I had a discusion with Michal on forum long time ago about the issue, they still didn't solve it yet) obstructs the trailer to change to a higher quality model when it is picked up by the player. If you move the lods for it (the stock ones) into the trailer (/vehicle/traier_eu/trailername/ etc ) folder and modify the chassis.sii file adding the lines for the lods the problem is solved. Otherwise when the trailer is parked and you go by , unless you are close enough the trailer wheels are missing.
Here's the def lines for hwater cistern I made with your tool:

Code: Select all

         model: "/vehicle/trailer_eu/hwater/trailer.pmd"
	#model: "/vehicle/trailer_eu/hwater/trailer.pmd" # traffic
	lods[]: "/vehicle/trailer_eu/hwater/trailer_lod_01.pmd"
	lods[]: "/vehicle/trailer_eu/hwater/trailer_lod_02.pmd"
	#lods[]: "/vehicle/trailer_eu/hwater/trailer.pmd"
	collision: "/vehicle/trailer_eu/hwater/trailer.pmc"

This trick was used in that game fix mod for any other mod that uses the stock chemical and fuel cistern. I guess you have to find a way to implement that into the tool as soon as possible.

i also have Visual studio 2010 and 2012 :D I use them to create Modern Warfare 3 mods on, i am still trying to learn basics there. It doesn't going well, still need to learn that basics and i want to learn C# too! but i know how to use the program (75% of it). it is hard in the start to learn, but if you get an nice teacher (even me :P) could we learn faster instead to read a damn book! -i want to help but i dont have enough experience in coding and knowledge of C#. i still have to know the basics.

I'm also from Sweden. My Point is i can help if someone can learn me few basics. many times i can understand what you/me are Writing. but i still need to learn more, (i say learn more too many times be cause i have too :P)
I'm from Sweden, so that means i'm awesome!
