NvidiaPro wrote:Adaptive Auto Transmission makes the normal tranny more realistic. Have you ever driven an Auto car in real life? What it does is when you are on full gas, it will use all the power it has and downshift to make your car or whatever you're rollin' with go as fast as it can push it. Slightly let off the gas, it will downshift assuming that you don't need power. If you are using a keyboard to play, the game will think you are using full gas, which you are actually doing.
Do truck autos like optidrive/power-shift do this as well? Personally I'm quite glad that the optidrive on my Renault changes up at 1500 regardless as I can be a little heavy on the right foot!

With a G27 controler, 1/2 to 3/4 throttle is enough to get the truck up to 90km/h, 12th gear no problem. Even in a 600hp Volvo (pulling a normal weight load).

Oh, and you can get it into 12th gear at full throttle , you have to be going fast enough ;)

I am having a very realistic experience with adaptive automatic transmission on my Scania R730. The GRSO 905 transmission box seems like the real one. It's perfect for wheels without H-Shifter, like my old Logitech Momo.

I've just switched to a new Hi-Way & apart from an info display & dials that are too small I'm loving it. Very light + eco. In terms of transmission, I find I'm driving it differently to how I drove other trucks. Part-throttle only to get some speed up but if you lift off it changes up, bringing you into a low rev-band of the next gear. Very eco. Another truck that can maintain 80 in 12th (the Magnum 440 achieved this but I found it comparatively sluggish). Easy cruiser + very relaxed. 9.5mpg over an (easy) journey from Brussels to Padborg with 15t.

Sorry, this turned into a review, but the point is creative use of the throttle with adaptive auto can be educational & help you get the best out of a truck's performance & economy.

So how is it in 1.14? Is it viable compare to automatic? I dont have enough powerful truck yet to keep max speeds (80kph) for too long, but automatic tranny with cruise control keeps it at 11th all the time.

I find the DAF E6 to be hugely economical, got 26l/100km (10.8 mpg) with an 18 or 22 tonne trailer (can't remember which) over about 400km.

Yeah, the new DAF is very good for long-distance travels because of it. Very economic. Beats any truck of the same power I guess.

Depends on the road, if you'll have to go through the mountains I doubt you can make it consume less than 33-36l/100km. I got with Volvo FH16 2012 with a 22t cargo, over 600km, 27l/100km. I have a 500hp engine.
