Yes, but according to youtube, it should not be blocked anywhere. Did you tried to play it on youtube site?

Videos played fine here in the Chicago (USA) area, but I turned OFF the bloody music. I hugely dislike "background music," most especially when trying to hear the engine sounds...

Re: What does Adaptive automatic transmission option do?
If anyone's still wondering about this adaptive transmission option, it appears SCS is trying to simulate the 'kick-down' feature found on some truck transmissions.
Truck throttle pedals have a resistance point before hitting the floor that is 'full throttle' in normal circumstances. However, if the driver pushes past the resistance point and puts the pedal to the floor, they then engage kick-down mode. The idea here is to drop the automated transmission down a (half) gear for quicker acceleration when needed; say when hill climbing, passing another vehicle, or an emergency.
Constantly running at 100% throttle will not have the automated transmission reach its highest gear (12th) as the driver is telling the trans, "no, I don't want top gear, I need a lower gear for better acceleration right now." I'm not sure what throttle input SCS has defined as the limit of 'normal' max throttle (like that resistance point I mentioned above), but if you don't exceed that then you will reach 12th gear. However, stamp on the gas in 12th and you'll kick down to 11th. Let off the gas, and the trans shifts back up to 12th.

My adaptive transmission and cruise control are no friends. When downshifting from D12 it always shifts to D10, goes to full rev and then back to D12. Skipping D11 all the time.

Adaptive transmission and anything less than 700hp are not friends either....krani75i wrote:My adaptive transmission and cruise control are no friends. When downshifting from D12 it always shifts to D10, goes to full rev and then back to D12. Skipping D11 all the time.
Re: What does Adaptive automatic transmission option do?
Just want to say right now, IT WORKS!
It finally works! The 1.9.1 public beta sorts it out very nicely. Have tried it now with all sorts of trucks, 440 -700 hp and it works fine.
Only bad thing is its fun now to floor it haha Never gonna get good milage now...

Adaptive Auto Transmission makes the normal tranny more realistic. Have you ever driven an Auto car in real life? What it does is when you are on full gas, it will use all the power it has and downshift to make your car or whatever you're rollin' with go as fast as it can push it. Slightly let off the gas, it will downshift assuming that you don't need power. If you are using a keyboard to play, the game will think you are using full gas, which you are actually doing.

Re: What does Adaptive automatic transmission option do?
Are you playing with a wheel or controller? If not, or if you are giving the truck full throttle much of the time, the adaptive transmission will hold 11th because you have trained it to err for more torque. If you use softer acceleration and allow the transmission to keep your revs down, it should kick into 12th if you get it up to full speed and let off the gas on a down grade. 12th gear doesn't offer much torque under 90K, so if your speed limiter is in place, the transmission will only use it if you have a conservative driving style. If accelerate aggressively, you'll burn a lot more fuel and spend more time in the lower gears.gerbiepiep wrote:Anyone else noticing the issue with this transmission option that the truck hardly ever gets into 12th gear, so far it keeps sticking in 11th gear.
