Adaptive Cruise Control

#1 Post by Notorious » 10 Dec 2017 18:58

I was just watching Squirrel's Sunday Night Trucking Twitch stream and he said he'd love to see adaptive cruise control in the game.

Now come to think of it... I wouldn't mind adaptive cruise control either. It is a simulator after all is it not? :D

what is that adaptive cruise control, you're speaking of?

I'd rather go for radar guided cruise control.
Retired, but still loving it.

adaptive is the one who adjusts the speed to the car in front of you or not ?

would be good to have with the AI we have at the moment

Having adaptive cruise control would make game and trucks more real. In new Scania's there is a window regarding this thing so it would be nice to get it.
Most of all, it will help on heavy traffic and small roads. Also, all new tracks have this system onboard.

In the ATS devstream one of the guys said that it will take away the main focus from the game (which is driving, of course), and so they will not be adding that feature.

That is a silly answer if that is what they said. By that logic we shouldn't have automatic retarder/engine brakes, cabin accessories, trailer cables, or light flare reworks since they don't have a main focus on driving. Disappointing since this is one feature I would very much like to see. It's not like the truck is on full autopilot, you still are very much driving the vehicle.

They never said that, if this is true why did they say that, in the future, advanced vehicle systems like lane depature system will appear? I want you to show me where in the stream they gave the ACC a no

I don't remember the timestamp of when they were on that topic since it's been over a week when I viewed their stream, and I do not have 3-4 hours to throw away doing that just for you. I will let you do that yourself if you find this information so important. All I know is they have said something negative in regards to adaptive cruise control. However you saying something about lane departure warning systems does remind me they did say they would like to add a feature like that.

Adaptive cruise control works great on lorries you set how many car distance you want from the vehicle in front of you and it will adjust to the speed that the vehicle infront is doing. For example you can set it to 5 car lengths then it will try to maintain that space. Some lorries you can set the distance to the vehicle infront manually or some wont let you do it at all and it will control the distance by itself. I can not comment on car's ACC because I have never encountered it on a car.
