I would like to suggest a new option for the game revolving around owning and running a "franchise" and/or new company. The idea is that the player is able to purchase a yard from a specific company, and run the yard as franchise or as a new company with the requirements that the yard provides deliveries for the player and player hired drivers. Essentially making it a dispatch point dedicated to the player and his/her fleet. Mechanics would be something akin to owning a garage, but with the added UI panels for pre-defined deliveries based on the franchise requirements (ie logistics/food/construction etc). The yard would have assignable slots which the player assigns from drivers in garages. The garages work identical to now, no changes need to be made to it. Additionally owned trailers could also be assigned to the franchise yard, or even required for specific contracts to spawn (ie lowbeds required for construction equipment contracts) per number of assigned trailers. Also rather than us running around looking for return contracts every run, we get them assigned via the in game e-mail system. So we take a dispatched contract from our yard, drive it to the location indicated, then we get an email which then tells us to go to yard X in the same town and pick up a load for a return trip or similar. This gives the player some directed playtime, with the player now "working" to the yards requirements along with the "free-form" contracts as we have now.
Imo this would add a nice extra layer to the gameplay that is not too demanding to work up, nor require that many resources to achieve. It uses all the systems in game already, just in a new layout.

Email return contract / As above, but given to the player as a pre-selected option ( filtered/generated)
Trailer assignment / trailer storage
trailer based contracts / only one change to make; limited to the number of trailers assigned to the yard
No "new" systems required, just a refactor of existing systems for a new element.
Additionally costs involved could be very high giving the player something to "invest" towards, and put the mountain of cash we can earn to good usage with a large money sink.
