OUTDATED [Guide] If you want to join translators team

#1 Post by Wolterhon » 06 Jan 2018 15:27

THE GUIDE IS OUTDATED.

If you want to help translating ETS2, you can join translators team.

To do that you have to make things described below.

1. Register an account on GetLocalization register page.
1.1. Confirm your e-mail opening the link in the letter that will come.

2. Open EuroTruck2 translation project page.

3. Enter your real name, choose English as language you would like to translate from, choose language the translation team of you want to join and write in the reason you want to join and something about your translation experience.

4. Now just wait. If you are accepted there will come a letter like this:
Hi [your nickname here],

You have been invited to translate project EuroTruck2

Project address: https://www.getlocalization.com/EuroTruck2/

If you have no interest, you can ignore this e-mail.

Kind Regards,
Get Localization Team,
My congratulations! You were accepted! Now let's start translating. Unfortunately GetLocalization interface isn't that comfortable as Crowdin's for example, but it's still usable.
At the top we have the search bar where you can set filters and text to search for tokens to translate. You can enter only English in the bar, so if you want to search something you have to obtain English version of the token.

At left there are all tokens that match the filters set at the top. Click on one of them to check how did translation team members translate it (at the middle), to see the context (top left corner below search bar and filters), comments about it (at the left) and translate it yourself (at the bottom). You can copy the English version of it to the editor by pressing Ctrl + . or just press the button (screenshot below).

Also you can copy translations by pressing that blue pencil (screenshot below)...

..and upvote them using that green thumbs up button (screenshot below).

Submit your translations using Ctrl + Enter or just press the button (screenshot below).

That's all about basics a regular newbie getloc user needs to know to start working. Hope my guide helped you in getting your hand in translating. Now thanks for your attention and good luck, my fellow drivers!

P.S.: If you see any typos or have suggestions please leave a comment. You'll help me a lot. Thanks.

I have successfully registered, and now I am waiting for confirmation from the administrator.
I have a question: In the drop-down menu, no Serbian Cyrillic is selected?

Everything will be okay in the end, and if it`s not okay, it`s not the end.

No, you need to pick "Serbian" instead as "Serbian Cyrillic" isn't a default language. This also means you every time will get a popup telling you:
You are currently translating to X. This language is not added to your profile. Please check that you are translating to correct language. If you are, just ignore this message. You can also add the language to your profile.
X = any non-default language. And you can forget about adding any of those languages to your profile. Welcome to the world of GetLocalization!

My language, "Norwegian Nynorsk", is also a non-default language, meaning I had to pick "Norwegian" instead.
This is not a signature.

I can not put a picture, that's when I made a new account.
Today I checked and I still do not have access, is still awaiting approval from administrators. Here's what it says when I want to access ETS2 "Your request has been sent to the project administrator. You'll receive an e-mail as soon as administrator accepts your request."

You just have to wait I guess. My request was accepted a week after I sent it. I think it depends on activity of the translation team admin.

You have to write an email to SCS Software so they can add it.

I got permission to join the translation. I translated a few words. What next? When the translation is added to the game, what is the procedure?
Thanks for the answers!
