Not enough space for characters

#1 Post by Joan93 » 13 Aug 2020 22:37

Hi.

In the Map menu, there is not enough space for time and distance to next checkpoint:

It's not a big problem, but i think it could be easily solved.

Cheers.

It's very disappointing to know that not all languages would get fluent support from SCS. I definitely agree with you, SCS must make their game apeal with the same quality across all languages.

For information, translations are made by some volunteers from the community who made that during their free time ;)

The Spanish language of the game is of great quality. Another thing is that in English you use 6 characters for a sentence and in Spanish 16. Translators do not have real time access to the game to see how the translation will look like. Respect their work, they don't charge anything.

I don't agree with you, translating a game isn't easy but it's very close to mandatory. Ets 2 has been translated over quite a few languages and many of which are not quite popular so I would expect issues here and there but the truth is that it could easily be fix within 4 hours and that's if one person would do it, come how hard would it be to go through most in game menus. Well.... one more thing, Spanish is the world's 2nd most popular language so Spanish should at least the same amount of support English does, or more!

then do it, everybody can register to translate the game or make fixes, the game UI is static, if they start to change it so it fits longer languages it will look stupid on other languages like English or German where everything can be written precisely with a few letters

It doesn't have to be for all languages. The area given for those statistics can differ from language to language, or else it will look..... well distorted. We can slightly larger UI that would favor Spanish and whenever you switch to another language such as English the UI can go back to its original state, when things move from language to language so does the flow of their design. Some countries use alternative STOP signs because regular American ones don't fit their language.

didnt i already say the UI is static ? they have to remake the UI first before they do anything, there doesnt exist an UI for different languages, you just choose a language and the set values are replaced with the values from the language files in the locale.scs

Well it's doesn't always have to be the UI. It can be the font and the font size.

only amateurs would change font/font size just to never touch the obvious problem that is a non scale able UI
